  • This was really impressive and something you should be really proud of. You put a lot of effort into the various stages of the process (getting feedback about the type of movement, making a test plan, prioritising the various tasks, level design). I can see that a lot of time and love went into this and you have made a really polished game. Look at giving the Next Level/Main Menu popup a background, or moving it somewhere else, with transparent background it doesn't look/feel right being over the level. Also add your name/logo to the Main Menu so people know what game it is. But this was really good. An excellent achievement! Well done!
  • I like the idea. It reminds me of the ice pokemon gyms and caves I used to play on gameboy. The UI is clearly all palceholder which is fine but the positioning and sizing is really off. I clicked on instructions and the picture and text were taking up only around 15% of my screen leaving a ton of dead space in the middle. There are also a lot of bugs. I pressed enter and the music stopped, pressing space allows me to bring up the menu and reload the level and have multiple characters playing. I pressed a direction as I was moving and was able to move through the obstacles. Overall I think the idea is good and has potential, but the bugs need to be worked out. I also think the instructions are not needed, you can build levels which teach everything you said in the instructions and if you do it through levels you do not need to tell the player anything.
  • Great game design...given a lick of paint this could go out on the app store. Smart puzzles, and I love the attention given to the difficulty curve and introduction of new mechanics. My son played it for half an hour after I played it and I had to kick him off to write this feedback! The locks/keys and collapsing bridges are simple but effective mechanics. The locks in particular turn out to be a very flexible design element - e.g. where sometimes you want to _not_ have a key so you can use it as a blocker. And in the mechanics and the crafted levels, there's a lot of content for a relatively short project...I do get the impression there's a passion for making games, which is super important to be able to get across. If coding doesn't work out, you seem to have good design instincts! There's fairly good attention to detail. The character movement - especially acceleration - feels pretty good. The bounce off of the snowmen is nice feedback. The effects at speed is quite appealing. For my money, just the right amount of creativity around the template project. Tim Page Well Played Games
  • This game is absolutely brilliant, I have played up to about level 25 but I will finish this. Only points of criticism are a minor bug where if you press enter with the menu up, you end up with two menus, and the knockback / delay between moves is a tad too long.
  • Overall this is a nice effort of a project. However, there are several levels where the user can get stuck, you should look at fixing this, if you intend to deliver this to potential employers. Future development you should look at adding lives, move counter with a leader board for lowest number of moves per level and unlocking each level as the user completes the previous.
  • Really enjoyed the game! . I really thank you for the instructions in the game also. Everybody seems to be forgetting this simple thing which should be a 101 . Seeing the KISS principle is a surprise for me in the rising star submission also but the real surprise for me was when i saw your approach to the documentation. Definitely a rising star! Keep it up!
  • By far the most complete game I have played in either tier of the competition. This game was extremely enjoyable and the level design was wicked too. Lots of in game mechanics (snowmen, keys, bridges), which all added something to the gameplay. A save system was also coded, which allows you to come back and continue. The only criticism would be in the UI, which amounted to grey boxes, but that is being picky. Great job.
