  • It sounds like you have learned a lot on this project, especially with fixing bugs and gaining confidence with documentation. I was impressed that you reused the rings to fix performance issues - this shows good technical thinking! Talking about how you overcame various bugs and set backs in your documentation is really great, so keep doing this!
  • I believe that implementing a simple idea, is a good choice if you are unfamiliar with developing games without all the features a game engine provides. Gameplay Although I did not experience any bugs, the game quickly felt repetitive, but I am sure that the experience can definitely improve. The core gameplay loop is quite simple, but that is not necessarily a bad thing as could had allowed you to implement other features that would enhance the overall experience. A few examples are: some sort of completing increasingly more difficult levels, a scoring system, having multiple rings at the same time, power ups and more. UI/UX The input is responsive and predictive, but unfortunately outside of that there aren't many things that can increase the score here. Having a menu instead of starting the gameplay straight away would had been highly preferable. Features Unfortunately the game lacks in this category too as there aren't many features apart from the core gameplay loop. I did like your approach of using the console to debug the state of the game. Creativity, Design & Originality The game idea is simple one but it can certainly be turned into an appealing project to be released on mobile phones due to its control scheme. The dev diary contains a lot of information but is not separated into sections. Adding code snippets and screenshots is really useful though and your itch.io page has all the information needed as well as a GIF and video so one knows what to expect before downloading the game. • Never let learning something new feel like a set back, the fact you tried (and made a functional game) despite not having the experience is still an achievement. Also, maybe try giving the player a little more time or distance to start, with the potential to speed up as you go through to add difficulty.
  • Messy Release ZIP Basic game concept in place Brutally difficult Steep learning curve for the candidate limited what they were able to achieve in the time available
