  • Your documentation was very thorough and I can see that research was done well for this entry. You certainly have the technical aspects down as far as combing the elements within the engine, but it would be good to see some work within other aspects of the animation pipeline done yourself, but I do understand that you had a very short time to put this together. As for the creative choices, it's a good start but I would expect a bit more nuance in the research and animation itself: The use of the stretch and squash in the animation was an appropriate choice given the art style that you chose to animate within, but the rest of the animations are comparatively stiff, so it feels slightly more disjointed artistically than it would otherwise. For the idle, this one needs the most nuance with it being longer. Holding the sword with one hand with no movement makes the character feel much less lively. I would recommend looking at sword stances with longswords to see poses that are more practical with that sized weapon. For example, here: http://www.thearma.org/essays/StancesIntro.htm#.YDVJyOhKiHs For that length of animation, I would also expect at least one additional idle state to be added where the character shifts their weight or looks around. Since you are going the more cartoon route, you want to add a little more personality and flare. Overall the other animations are good and blend well. For the sword retrieval, the heft of the weapon looks appropriate, but again the stance makes it a bit off, even for a supernatural-type character like this. Overall, I can see you have some developed skill, and with more experience and practice I can see you doing well in animation.
  • You have produced a very fluid animation that really has the same feeling and snappiness of your reference inspiration. I like how you have pushed the rig to the limit to achieve the feeling and impact you want. You have produced good documentation clearly setting out how you approached the challenge and demonstrating what you have learnt from the experience. i like that you have use game and movie references as inspiration. There is a lovely flow to each separate animation and they all link seamlessly together to create a very strong set of moves, I can see that these would work brilliantly for in game combat. Well done great work.
