  • Research + Development Some good examples of mood boards with annotation about the overall theme and look. To improve, researching into areas like composition and making sure the final concept and style you were aiming for was clear – even doing a quick sketch first to show what you’re aiming to do could work! Technical Unwraps for the head and body look ok, and the addition of the dust particle effect is nice. Main improvement for technical would be your topology I think. The tri count is viable in current gen games however for the style/look you went for the amount of polygons is a bit much. Some areas seem much denser than others (like the bracers you mentioned). This doesn’t seem necessary as your normal maps would have easily picked up the patterns on them with much lower poly count. As a general rule focus topology to fit the main silhouette and not the small details, meaning the normal maps do the rest of the work for you picking up the details. Well done for making your own rig to pose her, skinning looks fine. Creative Good to see you looking into the theme and colours for your project, considering colours and correlating them to the mood. To improve quality wise I would focus on refining your sculpt more as it has a lot of surfaces that look wobbly. Working in a lower Sub div until you get to the smaller details should help you. The textures seem quite basic and could be pushed a lot more in detail and variation. Think about what materials the clothes are made of and try to convey that in your textures. Documentation Some good mood boards and initial research into the theme of the character. To improve this you could include production evidence (showing WIPS) and have discussion about any workflows you used. Reflective commentary is included which is nice although sometimes is less critical and more just observant, e.g. you mentioned that the stars and dust particles make her seem more magical – but why does that make her seem more magical? Another thing to note that was good was the exploration on the post processing in UE4. Presentation Overall good effort but lots of room for improvement. Nice to see the character on a platform. Poses could be pushed more, they’re both very similar at the moment. Composition is lacking - planning the camera shots and keeping the framing of the shots consistent (using UE4s cameras) could have helped with this. Would have been nice to see some close ups of areas too like the face. Well done for entering SFAS, it’s a great way to improve :)
