i liked it, the core mechanic is a cool idea, and the art style is really cute, i especially like the main character. i think the timings on things like walljumping could be tweaked a little bit, but overall it was fun, and seeing more levels that build on the main idea would be really interesting

Decent start. However the wall jumping seems inconsistent and the spikes change on weird timing and I got frustrated and stuck at the beginning of the second area as a result. I do like the concept of the level changing every time you jump. I've seen that before in areas of games but never for an entire game, so it could be a cool idea to explore.

yeah, the wall jumping really needed a bit more love. It was hard balancing giving the player enough time to get away from the wall before the vines changed, but not too much time so that they are jumping into the other vines before they dissappear.

I thought this was a cool little platformer. I also appreciate the mechanic of "stuff changes when you jump", it was used to good effect in certain areas like making you go against your instincts and jump right towards thorns that you know are going to disappear.

I felt that the hitboxes on the thorns were a little unforgiving and I would have liked to see some checkpoints.

In terms of "era-feel" you say you were targeting Gameboy screen resolution, but it doesn't really read as a gameboy game visually in any other sense, and there are mixed pixel sizes around that definitely ruin any illusion that this was made for retro hardware.

Overall it's a good game, especially given that you say its the first game jam you've done and the first game you've made period. Excellent effort!

I like the game's gimmick of flipping between two different states whenever you jump, kind of like some of the levels in Super Mario 3D Land. The controls are generally fine, but the wall jump sometimes felt weird — if you press the other direction from the wall a bit too early, you'll fall off and won't jump. The game being short is understandable due to the time constraints, but I do wish there were a few more level segments to introduce elements like the walking mushrooms in a safe environment.

Yeah, I agree with you. I changed game idea and engine so I lost a bit of time. It was kind of a race to get what I could functional and have something to show for it. Thank you for your feedback.
