Really neat, though more actual convos with the users instead of just straight quotes might've been more fun.

this is actually a work of art.

for starters, the idea of making DJT into like a physical place with its residents physically living in there distributed through different areas is genius.
the plot is also the most djt thing there could be. making the protagonist not just any random green going through the japanese journey, but YOTSUBA of all people is the most core DJT (and 4chan) thing ever. couldnt make a more perfect protagonist for this story.

im floored at the sheer amount of content in this shit, all the characters and dialogue, all the levels, and all the crazy gimmicks like the battle system and the different events in the overworld, it shows none of you slept well at all during the week of the jam. its all so imaginative and creative too coming from people ive seen do nothing but shitposting so im amazed.

i think the main highlight for everyone involved are the members made into npcs. that shit is extremely funny, and most of them are surgically precise in the accuracy and conciseness of their jokes. it is indeed kinda sad reading the post development stuff about how there were going to be more characters but they didnt make it, but still if you dont know anything about that then the game still has a shocking amount of content. hopefully theres a more complete version some day (never ever)

this game is really representative of how we have formed a very specific and niche culture with very particular customs which would be completely uncomprehensible to "foreigners", guess its actually kind of like japan in that way. not only do you need to participate in the community to understand all of this but you also need to know the japanese language to a somewhat competent level (and not just that, but djt-made japanese which is full of stupid jokes born out of the mixture with our own cultures like 此実, making it impossible to understand to normal people who know japanese too) which makes it so that if you gave this game to someone outside of djt they wouldnt understand shit, but to us its the funniest shit ever made. in retrospective djt must be the only community ive seen like that, even other niche places like some general threads or incel forums are quick to get up to speed on if you already have a base knowledge of internet culture and the psychology of the modern 90s single white male, but djt is far beyond that. ive reevaluated how unique this place is.

i love how everything and everyone is characterized so succinctly but without subjectivity or bias (except ine i guess hes lookin like the real villain here and im convinced its true. ...also matt), its kind of like that video kanjieater made explaining DJT which was a very interesting sociological analysis. i like this kind of 俯瞰 objective but humorous representation of djt.

its really powerful to see djt packaged and concentrated into a <1hr videogame. its not the same talking about comey being funny than seeing him as a literal character in a videogame. it makes me think again about how much more powerful conveying something through an artistic narrative is compared to just saying it in words in real life, you manage to gain a whole new appreciation of the subject matter that you wouldnt have gotten by otherwise just talking on discord, no matter how long the walls of text exchanged would be.

i also unironically like the plot and "message" of the game, no doubt inspired by DJ's real experiences, that once you get through all the layers of hard japanese, meme japanese, quizzes, racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, redditphobia, and other bad words, at the end of the day we're all just nice internet friends having fun (and we're all ACTUALLY cute anime girls) (and matt is a lizardman).

and this is why i give yotuba vs japan a 10/10. mindblowing work
