Cool music, the story text was great. This might just be me but I had trouble getting the mind control to work. But the concept was very interesting and well thought through.
Were you possibly using the numbers on your keypad instead of the ones on the top of your keyboard? Gamemaker decided that those numbers are not the same, so the ones on the top are what you need to use!
