  • Slow, feels like its trying to be meaningful but it feels padded and clunky. The backgrounds are beautiful and I enjoyed the art. I would have liked for the player to be more rushed in tense scenes, and for the actual gameplay to be more fluid.

Yes

Summarise your game!
“In our hands” is a story-driven game that follows the story of 4 different characters across different eras with weapons corresponding to their time. The main mechanics of the game are the unique mechanic of each level (spear throwing, sword fighting) and dialogue.
The controls are A/D for movement, left click for the main interaction of the level (and for continuing dialogue) and optionally Space/Enter to continue dialogue.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
In the game we try to highlight that the real weapon is actually the one wielding it, not the weapon itself. They can be used for good and justice or evil and malice. Each story can be either interpreted directly or metaphorically.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
We are quite happy with the art-style and would love if you could pay special attention to it :)

I really liked it! I was hoping there would be a different ending based on [REDACTED], but alas, I couldn't figure out if there was a way to trigger one. A story-based game was a nice change of pace and the music and limited color pallete really set the tone very well. Nice pacing, my only real critique would be that our last friend was walking really slow in the last scene and that reduces the effect of the urgency of that scene. Otherwise, was a good contemplative game! Very nice work yall.

Thank you for your feedback! We really wanted to add different endings and branching dialogue but we didn't have time. The third level was made last and it's pretty rushed as well. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Surprisingly contemplative, was critical of the speed at first but it does help the pacing, and this is a game that aims to give you space to think
