  • I like your game's concept - from your GDD I could see your direction and the artistic style you intended to use. Unfortunately I couldn't seem to get past the night phase of gameplay, likely due to the fact that you did not provide any instructions on how to play! I'd love to see what your game becomes after you flesh it out some more.

You play as the alchemist, an older man who suffers with a growing parasomnia. Each day you mix different ingredients and create elixirs hoping to find a cure.

The main mechanic is evolving the world based on the player's choices and actions. We use an events system to track when a certain event occurs (Witnessing a nightmare, making a certain dialogue choice) and then unlock new items, encounters, level layouts, and more events. This will make each playthrough more unique.

The elixir system is used to maintain the player's sanity, the more nightmares you experience the lower your sanity becomes. Elixirs can be used to dampen the severity of nightmares, provide the player with more energy and calm the player after suffering from a nightmare.

Very cool concept! The writing is good and shows a lot of promise for the choose-your-own-adventure type experience. The nightmare level as planned in the GDD is quite creative and is intriguing as a mechanic and plot device. I must admit, I find myself rather curious as to the source of the player’s nightmares and sleep disturbances for the people of the town. There’s a lot here that I find compelling; I could see myself playing through a completed version of this multiple times to see how the story develops based on differing choices. I look forward to seeing more of what you create in the future!
