  • I rated this high on playability since the level walkthrough was, indeed playable. Of course the scope of the game wasn't implemented as you pointed out so you won't be winning, but it's good of you to submit what you made! Being totally new to this and making something is a huge feat and I hope you're proud. The GDD and your explanation here detail your vision and I judged according to that. Thank you for submitting your game and happy deving in the future!

For the demo you simply use the arrow keys to navigate a short dungeon.

We want this game to be a third person view roguelike where the player has to create a path to move through the shadows covering the level. We thought of a D6 that unravels into a variety of shapes that can act as 6 tiles the player can walk on. Additionally we wanted to implement spells in a way that you collect literal elements like Oxygen, Iron etc and transmute them into a thematic spell or fuse them together to create a unique compound of the two or make a rarer element by combining their atomic numbers together, with this system we can have hundreds of unique spells to make every playthrough unique and exciting.

The idea I came up for the story would be that the player is a little Homunculus that awakes outside a large underground dungeon with only a small pouch filled with dice, one of them being a D6 known as the 'Philosophers Stone'. The stone helps create the pathways through the dungeon and cast their spells used to fight the monsters lurking inside, a shadowy monster that corrupts everything it touches including the original residents of the dungeon like goblins, myconids or dragons. As you delved deeper, and fight progressively tougher enemies a deeper plot unravels regarding your origin as well as the shadows creeping up from the abyss.

Extra Notes
This is our teams first Jam so we had a lot of learning to do but we successfully made a prototype that allows you to walk through a short level, the grander scope of the game couldn't be implemented but we all had fun and I'm proud of what we accomplished the last two weeks
