  • As you know, the game isn't in a completely playable state. However, because the ideas were so well done, you've gotten a much higher score than normal. One thing I would definitely change is to make the shadow character be in the background, just visible with a text bubble above him, to give the players instructions on what to do next for the first play through. That way they don't accidentally click through a chat bubble and not remember what to do. Nice game. Love the genre. Can't wait to see what you've got next!

Take on the role of a failed alchemist who is trapped in Purgatory and must follow orders from a strange Shadow being. You must verify the alchemical reactions of other naïve alchemists and allow their reaction to succeed, or sentence them to their own Purgatory. If only there was some way to escape this fate worse than death.

In the art of alchemy, not much is known of what determines if reaction works. It turns out there are some entities on the other side of the curtain who make that determination.

Core Loop
A reaction is given to the player -> Verify that the recipe is in the book -> Verify that all ingredients have the correct weights using the scales (or share a common multiple) -> Verify that the ingredients weight the same as the end product -> Put the ingredients and product back where you found it (or don’t…) -> Decide whether the alchemist is correct or not by stamping their hand (before the time runs out) -> Learn how to unlock different endings with the hope of eventually escaping Purgatory

Extra Notes
Dang, we wish we had more time to finish this. It's hard to put a whole game together when you work full time and have a family. We kept feeling like we were sooo close to getting the game fully functional, but the goal just wasn't in reach. We plan on finishing the game over the next week or so. Hopefully you can at least see the vision we had and enjoy the aesthetic of our short, very broken, prototype.
