Judge feedback

Judge feedback is anonymous and shown in a random order.

  • Your game demonstrates a clear main gameplay loop and has done well in not leaving loose ends. I would have started by putting more time into considering how your game can be functionally different from the games you take inspiration from outside of changing the assets used and adding some combat. What I like: - The background music - The game is consistent What I'd improve: - Differing from the inspiration - Some bugs (animations getting stuck, people waiting off screen) - Make the instructions be in-game so you don't have to remember so much, get someone to playtest if possible and tell you how well they can navigate the game
  • While the art style for the character, environment and even the shadow creatures were done quite nicely, and the music was done well, I was not too keen on the series of steps that needed to take place in order to complete just one order--even with the style of game you put forward. Along with this, the way the themes were implemented didn't come across as very unique to me; with adding shadow creatures as 'blockades' to the player completing their orders and selling potions as alchemy. These felt too simplistic in nature, and I would have liked to see if there was a different way this style of game could be approached when implementing these. Overall, even if my experience playing wasn't what I expected, do keep up the hard work all the same.

You play as an alchemist running a potion shop. You have to create potions in time before the customer gets mad. There are shadow monsters that will appear and mess with you to try to prevent you from creating the potions.

Extra Notes
I had a lot of fun. After getting my masters in game design last year, I started streaming and doing game development in my free time outside of my job and I am glad that you have created an awesome community to foster that sort of work and learning.

Even if I don't win, I had a fantastic time and will keep making games. Keep up the amazing work.
