  • The controls made sense, but I could not make use of certain things while playing. I was able to move properly, create a shadow, but anything else didn't really work no matter how many times I looked over the instructions given. Not sure if I just misunderstood things, or something else. The way shadow was incorporated into the theme was already interesting to me, but due to my struggling with the controls, I can't really speak on a lot of the mechanics since I didn't get to experience a lot. As for alchemy, I can't speak to that either since, again, I didn't experience much to see what your interpretation of it was (outside of the document you made). Lastly, for artistic approach: art, fantastic--environment, player character the enemies, all good. Sound effects--all an added plus for the aesthetic. Overall, I just want to see if there was something I just missed with the controls and/or anything else you planned to add to this experience, because I definitely plan to check this out again and see what else you have. All in all, good stuff even if I couldn't gather everything properly, keep up the hard work.
  • I think you could have a fun game going here, but I think being handheld throug an enemy would have been nice. the controls are hard to grasp just looking at a sheet once and then getting thrown into it. people learn best by doing, and with that I hope you learn a lot doing this game jam!

My game is a boss battle. I wanted to create an enemy that is more than just a basic enemy that follows the player like I have done in the past, so I made a boss. It's not the most difficult boss for the sake of the game jam. To defeat the boss, you use your shadow which can be transformed into yourself, a gold block, or an explosion with transmutation circles. The controls are inside the game when you start, to your right on the wall scroll. I worked as mostly a solo developer with some help in QA from my brother. I also used free online assets and I credited them in the game's page.

Extra Notes
I had a lot of fun with this game jam. I wanted to create a boss fight and I did, so I'm proud of that. Granted it's not the best boss fight, but I still enjoyed making it.

Died three times by friendly fire before read the instructions. I 100% tried to use gold on the boss,  it did not work out. Would play more of this for sure.

Visuals and Music were both awesome.

Developer

Haha I probably should have made the instructions more noticeable. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.

Hi! took a couple of tries at the boss but couldn't beat him lol.

I really liked the music you used for the boss fight. The mechanics took a bit to get used to. I was mostly using the explosion so I didn't really use the other abilities as much.  I like how the alchemy circles show up for the shadow abilities too. It would be really cool if it had a platforming level before you reach the boss, where you get to use all of the abilities.

Overall, great job on the game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I had originally planned to add a short level or just a playable tutorial to try out the abilities but didn't end up having enough time to make it. Thanks for playing the game!
