  • You've definitely made something fun here. Really good job. I think the one thing I would have changed is giving the player the ability to run. There were also some performance issues, frame drops, etc. But that's all expected for game jams. Really awesome job. Looking to see this being finished!

My game is a puzzle platformer where the major mechnic is that you can walk on shadows. Most of the players tools are centered around creating or manipulating light sources to move and create shadows.

The players abilities are themed around the 4 alchemical elements; Fire, Air, Water, and Earth. I have 8 powers in total, the 4 basic elements and another 4 created by combining the base elements in pairs, leaning into the alchemical idea of mixing and combining substances.

The elemental powers are unlocked progressively, so as to not overwhelm the player and to provide an increasing difficulty curve, as the puzzles become more complex with multiple powers required.

The eventual goal of the game is combining all four of the elements to create the fifth element, Æther.

Controls are tutorialised in the first level; A and D to walk left and right, W or Space to jump, S to drop down, Shift opens your power wheel, and E casts the selected power.

I highly recommend playing in full screen as I designed all of the text and UI at that scale.

Extra Notes
I am a solo developer and this is my first game. Created in my evenings and weekends over the 2 weeks of the jam.

This prototype contains a tutorial on the first two major abilities of the game. I focused on gaining a bit of time working on all aspects of the game design process, a little experience with animation, sound, UI, asset creation, level design and programming. Created using Godot 4.

Hey this was really cool. I especially enjoyed the little playground at the end with all the abilities, I'm sure you could make some awesome puzzles with that.

Great idea and cool concept!
