Killer Shape is 2D shooter/platformer, revolving around shapes and colors.
Enemies are made of distinct shapes and colors, the shapes dictate the abilities/functionalities of the enemies, whereas colors dictate, which player weapons can damage them.
For example: Yellow shape can only be damaged by yellow weapon (shotgun), or when the player enters the shadow realm, in which case all colors are void and players can damage any enemy with any weapon.
Shadow realm mechanic is limited by shadow realm power, being in the realm depletes the power, while slaying foes outside of the shadow realm recovers the power
Shape abilities:
Square: patrols the area and damages the player on contact
Star: chases the player and damages them on contact
Triangle: shoots projectiles at the player
Circle: provides power to compound enemies (consisting of multiple shapes), when the player destroys the circle, they destroy the entire enemy
Shapes can be combined to form compound enemies - combining shapes power into one entity.
For example:
Square + Triangle = patrols and shoots at the player
Triangle + Triangle = shoots different projectile attack at the player
and so on ...
Player mechanics:
Dash - gives brief invulnerability during its duration and allows to traverse more space
Jump/Double jump - player can double jump while mid air at any point, even combining this with the dash. So the player could jump ->dash -> jump
Shotgun weapon: Sprays the area with randomized spread of bullets
Machine gun: Mid range fairly inaccurate, high fire rate weapon
Sniper rifle: Long range, accurate weapon. Allows the player to penetrate the first shape hit, allowing the player to either damage
2 shapes, or bypass the first (if its immune to the sniper rifle) and hit the one behind it
Controls:
A/D - move left/right
Spacebar - jump/double jump
Q - dash
E - toggle shadow realm
Left Mouse click - Shoot
1 - switch to shotgun
2 - switch to machine gun
3 - switch to sniper rifle
R - reload the gun
