Tell us about your game!
You or should I say it, travels and explores the environment of the underbelly, where food and enemies are everywhere, exploring and collecting food grows the network of the slime, spreading as it explores the area.

It starts with a mini tutorial explaining the controls and the basic mechanics of the game.

Controls:
WASD or arrow keys to move
Zero (0) or E to view map

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Extra Notes
I based my game after, the mechanics of how slime molds interact with an environment, the main inspiration was a research paper conducted on the slime molds ability to efficiently create a network of tokyo's railyway system. Creating a network that spreads throughout the environment :)

When i hit play nothing happens 🤔

Developer

Yeah, I'm not sure how to fix that as it doesn't occur on my local copy of the game nor in the game engine itself.  I didn't have time to fix it as other matters got in the way. Im using Godot btw if this is a common thing with that engine in particular. When I get more time, I will figure it out.

I used Godot too, and found that my game reacts different on other computers too. A friend of mine had to restart the computer because the antivirus blocked the game. Also i don't know why Godot doesn't work well with audio interfaces, when you play a game made with godot or simply try to develop a game while using an audio interface, the audio is heard slow and distorted, but only through the interface, it sounds well on the normal audio plug from the motherboard (in case you run on some sort of similar problem, that's a Godot issue 🤣).

Developer

Yeah, I was also getting my anti-virus interrupting it which is annoying. I've got some time now, so I'll look into how to do a work around for it. Thanks for letting me know about the audio issues with godot. Quick question on your submission did you export as an .exe file or did you export a web version and zip it?

Submitted

I exported the exe with the pack for windows, and uploaded both separately and also a zip with everything inside. I couldn't make a web build as a don't have the setup for it yet and ran out of time, I wanted to try exporting it for Android too, which also takes time to setup.

okay yeah I will try this specifically then from I gathered, from your reply, you did not embed the .pck file with the .exe of the game. I also added rcedit and signtool to the project settings which I thought might help the issue but it doesn't for me. And I've tried to do a Web version of the game and theres missing sprites, I believe i've tried everything for that apart from rolling back the project to a more stable version of godot for web games but that seems like a step too far for the time being :D.

I also played your game, I like the style : ). I know it was mentioned that the games has loud audio (in the comments if I remember correctly). It might be a bug or something but you can manually turn down the volume of the audioplayer nodes, which only works when you run the game in engine as the inspector will play the default audio clip regardless of changes. That atleast worked for me, but the slight compression is still apparent.

Oh yeah, the audio problem comes from the fact that i had to change headphones a few times (had to connect a pair to the PC directly as the ones i use with the audio interface has a bigger plug, and using the audio interface is imposible as the sound gets slowed and crackled). With my audio interface i control the volume directly from it so when i used the headphones directly on the PC i had volume differences, so i adjusted it up without realizing i had the default audio driver volume like at 40% 🤣. My bad, but can't change it now till the jam ends 🤷‍♂️. I just left the game as is temporarily, meanwhile im trying to remake Thuderforce 3 on Pixel Game Maker, i belive i can but it's pretty difficult to get the assets from old games so i can at least build the map as reference to make new assets over the original ones (so that the positions of the details and enemies are exactly as the original).
