What did this game do well?


DrollBall? is a great game with a great game mechanic. It is very fun trying to draw these shapes and guide the ball. The game is also very minimal so it fits the theme of the challenge well. Really novel idea. Cute background music. The drawing mechanic is genuinely really impressive and I like how the ball interacts with the line. Its a really good idea for a minimalist game. Its pretty addicting and the controls feel smooth and behave the way I expect them too. Felt really new, so I was excited for the game(felt like a new experience games wise). Loved the music. It maintains my highscore while replaying, that was good(Still maintained the highscore after I closed the tab and reopened it). I really enjoyed the drawing mechanism, it was well done. I liked that I could draw around the ball completely but then it would get wiped off so I could restart my drawing. the movement is smooth and ui is good It was very fun to be able to draw with my mouse to control the game!

What could this game have done better?


Although the game didn’t follow the rule of the challenge 100% it, was still a very creative idea. It was a bit difficult to figure out the goal of the game. Maybe instead of hitting the shapes, you can dodge them. The speed of the ball falling is too fast. Maybe you could try to make the shapes rising instead of the ball falling. I think it would have been better for the shapes to not have collision, or have it so the ball can only collide with it once. There were many times where I had to wait because the ball was stuck between my line and the shape. The text on the UI also could have been bigger, especially on the button. I would prefer the timer to go down from 30 sec, instead of going from 0-30. I like to know how much time I have left. After the game ends the sound feels a bit like a sound used for defeat. It’s not bad but at least when I get a high score I would’ve preferred to have a different sound. There were times when my score was not updated when the ball quickly touched multiple objects. I felt like it could’ve been a combo but felt bad that I didn’t get a score for those,. Considering this game is a bit difficult to touch the objects I felt it should be good to touch multiple objects quickly. There were times when I got stuck on top of a few objects(square or triangle) and I had to use the lines to try to squeeze out of it. This is not a problem but I would prefer if it automatically escaped those situations. I wasn’t sure how to score points or what to do other than draw. I didn’t understand why the red shapes were there. Maybe a tutorial or instructions within the game. I read the description and found out you need to touch the shapes, but because the shapes are red, I found that I didn’t want to touch the shapes. Maybe the shapes should be more colorful or brighter or intriguing so that I would want to have the ball bounce on them. It might be better to change the logic to avoid the shapes instead to hit the shapes to get points I had thought we had to avoid the balls, but that wasn’t the case. Oops
