What did this game do well?

****************************

Very simple and easy to understand concept; Really embodied the spirit of minimalism.

I like how the game keeps the player vigilant on realizing when two of the same shape has appeared at the same time. I thought it'd be easy to do at first but it was actually more challenging than expected - sometimes I don't even realize that two shapes were the same. The pacing for going to the next play was also well done. The score also helps keep the player replaying for a higher score (it also makes it fun when you compete with your friends for a higher score with the game).

I like the concept of the game where you need to match the shapes. Makes me need to focus in the center of the screen as I know if I look away I'll probably get something wrong. I thought the idea of making the game harder by switching up the shape colors would be trippy and interesting.

They have made the algorithm unpredictable.

This game stuck to the one-button and minimalist design very well.

This game had an interesting approach in that we were looking for a pattern instead of directly making something happen, it was also nice that it was simple to learn and play

What could this game have done better?

****************************

It's somewhat boring, so maybe it could have been structured to get faster as the time goes on or maybe that the colors always change for the shapes.

I think it would be nice to have some more challenge thrown to the player as the players progresses, such as speeding up the pacing of progressing to the next play or increasing the number of shapes that has to be matched. It would throw more spice into playing the game. While not necessary for a prototype, I also think it would be nice to have some more feedback (like screen shake or screen color change) when the player scores a point or loses a life - I sometimes don't realize when I have lost a life until I look at the number of life points remaining.

There could be some sfx to help the player know if they matched or got it wrong. Something interesting I caught was that there would be times where the shapes just don't match for a good 5 seconds (lucky me!). It'll be nice if there were some additional elements to the game.

They should also implement a feature to deduct points if they miss a match

The game becomes more about matching colors than shapes since each shape has a unique color. I would suggest making all shapes the same color to bring the focus back on the shapes.

This game could have had more variation or tried different methods of fooling the player because as it was it didn't really make me want to play through five lives and it wasn't too difficult to keep those lives
