What did this game do well?

****************************

Core mechanics being simple with the focus entirely on level design is nice. Being able to place mirrors allows the player to solve puzzles the way they see fit.

The first level made the game easy to understand and the ability to just press the light for no consequence encouraged experimentation. The colors of the light having to match the walls to go through was instantly understandable. The second level drastically increased the complexity of the level and needed the player to master all they learned to make progress. And upping the number of mirrors showed an evolution of the player's abilities. Restarting the first level also let me find an alternate path to complete it slightly faster.

I felt like it was very intuitive, and was able to create a variety of gameplay from a simple and quickly understandable mechanic

I really like the idea of this game and I feel like I would definitely gravitate to this game during my commutes if it was a mobile game. Reflecting different colored lights is fun.

I like the creativity of this game. It is different than most level designs as I feel that many level designs tend to be a maze that a player has to go through, but this game is unique. I like that this game lets the player think and solve a puzzle to get to the next level.

the concept of the game is super cool. I love puzzle games, and this one is a very satisfying one. I somewhat disagree with what was previously said in class, and I really like the gates changing the colors of the light. it's very well thought out. overall, really fun game!

The overall game mechanics were really interesting and fun to play around with. I really liked how the tutorial level forced you to interact with the elements in the game before then facing a much harder level after

It's actually extremely interesting concept. i've never played a game like this one before. Although it is hard, the colors and concept made it extremely fun to try and manuever. Additionally the simplicity of the details and concept make it very fun to try and learn because it doesnt seem that daunting.

the lazer mechanic is very impressive and reflective works very well.

What could this game have done better?

****************************

Feel like the mirror-placing mechanic shouldn't be introduced at the very beginning. Indicators for where mirrors can and can't be placed would be nice for player feedback.

You can't move the mirrors once placed, so if you aren't exact, you could miss easily and have to restart, which doesn't seem to be a feature. Which only really matters because I self-imposed the challenge of placing them all before pressing play. I would've also liked to be able to zoom out. Beating the second level doesn't seem to do anything.

I think personally I would have reversed the place/rotate clicking, but since it was without instructions I would guess so it's players realize that rotating is even possible. I really enjoyed the game as a whole!

I wish there was a zoom out function so I can see the entire map easily. Is there a way to move the mirror after placing it down? It'd be nice if there are some guidance boxes to show where you can place the mirrors down since right now it feels like you can just place them anywhere (on top of walls/on top of other mirrors/etc.)

One thing this game could have done better would be if it was possible for a players with trackpad to use it as well. Many people use their laptops, and I had to use my mouse and also change my trackpad setting to play the game, which can be a little inconvenient.

I actually couldn't play this game. I don't have a middle mouse button, so I was only able to interact with the first two mirrors. I wish the game was compatible with more devices. One thing that I wish were different level design wise, was I wish we started out with mirrors that didnt affect color so that we knew how the mirrors worked, and then added color changing mirrors.

The first level has a branching path that isn't needed

It is so hard to understand. The first level is like extremely difficult, i couldn't exactly figure out how to win. The tutorial level is essentially like a difficult level to the average beginner who did not develop this game. Additionally, maybe some more effects and music sfx would've made this game more enjoyable.

The game doen't use the lazer mechanic to do something engaging in the game. It fine it is so simple as it is just a prototype
