What did this game do well?

****************************

The tutorial level is straightforward and the mechanics are easy to grasp. The theme of the game is clear with the levels' aesthetics. Next level introduces a new mechanic, but it isn't overly complicated. The care given to Meatboy's level design is evident here with how new mechanics that aren't complicated are slowly introduced.

The puzzle aspect of the game is really well done. The tutorial is also well done so that it is easy to figure out what to do despite the lack of text for instructions in-game. It's great that players can figure out the mechanics just by exploring and experimenting. I like how the second level also adds complexity with floating/moving platforms. The art is also really well done.

I really love this game! I think the way you allow the player to figure things out through the level's design and placement of gifts. The sprites and art are also very charming. Really good job!

Tutorial was really welcoming and gave clear vision to what the game would entail. Mechanics were simple but satisfying. Assets and theme were fun.

Love the gifts and the ability to push them. Additionally the graphics and the sprites are really well designed. I also loved the actual presentation of the level as it is very simple to understand what you are supposed to do.

Tutorializes mechanics with the presents and buttons intuitively and smoothly. Adds to the design of the first level.

What could this game have done better?

****************************

No complaints in terms of level design.

I think the game is good as it is. The only thing I would nitpick is that the large present feels very light - I think it would be nice to have the large present feel heavier when pushing/falling.

There are a couple of bugs, but they're hardly noticeable

I don't think I have an explicit critique or idea to improve this that wasn't said in class.

Personally, I think more to the game wouldve made the game more intriguing. Maybe more movement options, and maybe different types of enemies would've made this game very fun.

Couldn’t find the exit of the first level (I ended up travelling back to the beginning and over again to find it)
