What did this game do well?

****************************

Great use of particle effects and special effects in general; Game is really fun to just continue playing mindlessly; UI is nice; The randomized cannonballs that can be sliced are good and add enough complexity to this project.

a lot of nice details like the falling snow on the hats

The controls for the toy were very straightforward, on top of that there were many effects demonstrated. The most interesting effect to me was the snow/wind effect; it makes me wonder how it was done since it clearly follows a wind pattern and each particle has a collider.

The theme and the design are very well done.

This game hit the marks well for effects and game feel. Little things like seeing the snow particles accumulate on the hat only to get blown away by the wind is such a minor but really special detail. The little animations and use of afterimages/tracing help make movement feel better and give it a lot of speed.

I feel like I'm watching a Japanese action movie when playing this game. The attention to detail (snow sticking to hat, wind blowing, post-processing) really makes this game ooze with juice.

What could this game have done better?

****************************

As it is right now, it doesn't feel like there is too much point in jumping as the cannonballs are going diagonally down, so maybe add some sort of obstacle requiring a jump.

how about adding up key to jump too.

The way that the player controled the character was a bit unsatisfying. I believe the movement speed could be tuned faster, and the character only being able to dodge in one direction doesnt feel good in a static screen but could make sense in a game

I think they can improve the game control- maybe include cursor for sword movement

The only nitpick I can come up with is it'd be cooler to see these effects on better looking assets, but that isn't necessarily feasible given the scope and time available for this assignment within class. I think this game is great.

I believe it was mentioned that the sword swing animation is bugged, but that's the only thing missing for me.
