  • Good job completing the jam! Things to consider moving forward: - You seemed to have a cursed problem here, meaning there are multiple mechanics working against each other. Think about how you can simplify your game and the mechanics. In some areas you just have rooms where you walk around solving puzzles, where in other rooms you are essentially playing a sidescroller. Pick one and create interesting mechanics that can work well within that genre. - Think about the objective of the game. What do you want players to accomplish? Solving this might also help with creating a more succinct progression cycle. - Add some polish! Focusing on the small aspects of the game will just make it that much better. You have very few sound effects currently and no music, so add some music! Look and see if there are any animations or implementations of environmental storytelling that you can play off of. I loved the look of the Onsen, but it didn't really seem to carry on throughout the whole game. Determine why that is! - Your colliders do not line up with your platforms. This can make for extremely frustrating gameplay. Remember, difficult gameplay does not always equal fun gameplay. Overall, good job team and keep at it!

GAME KAK!!

Submitted(+1)

i tried to beat this for about 20 minutes and couldn't. word to the wise. players will throw themselves against a super difficult platforming challenge  for hours if they believe that they just need to "git gud". But when the game is playing dirty with hit boxes that dont make sense to the player/spike size... they will be frustrated and quit. I love the art. the girl is cute as a button. i wish i could get to the door after collecting the key to see what happens to her. But alas i could not. Even if i made it to the final "spike gap" it was too hard to get the timing. Shows promise though. I enjoy a hard platformer with a cute protag.
