- What did this game do well? (Answer in a few sentences)
- I like that the concept is minimalistic but not overly simple/easy. The game is actually quite difficult since it is hard to gauge the amount of time you need to press in order to jump the given distance.
- The rules were pretty straightforward, and the element of randomness adds freshness to each playthrough. I like that the score shows up at the end to show how well you did
- 1) Simple, but hard! Players need some time to get familiar with control, but not too much, good! 2) Constructed a "man" with simple shapes, this is the only one I saw out of 12 prototypes, cool!
- This game has a clear goal and funny mechanics, which make it extra suitable for one-button minimalist game. However, as is introduced by the developer, the program is still buggy and it might hurt player's user experience. Besides its completeness, this game has a clean UI and pleasant layout.
- It is a hard and challenging game. The small person is hard to control. The idea of game design is very fancy.
- This game stood out in that it was not about acting quickly, but rather acting carefully, which I personally find more interesting. I enjoyed taking lots of tiny jumps to "tiptoe" the character to the edge of a platform in order to make the leap to the next platform easier. The avatar's compressing/expanding with relation to how much "charge" it has is a nice touch, and is crucial in allowing the player to take precise jumps.
- What could be done better? (Answer in a few sentences)
- There are still some bugs (which is mentioned on the game page). Sometimes the player just disappears. Other times I successfully land on the next block but the game still ends.
- This game might get inspiration from Wechat's mini program:Bottle Flip. They have similar mechanics and logics. And this one could be viewed as a 2D one. In my opinion there are list of points that could make it better: 1. fix most of the bugs it has, including collision detection and over-accumulating; 2. chang the color theme, as the current one is dim and dusty, it should be made clear and bright; 3. add some sould effect, which could make it funny.
- 1) Modify the physics engine, now the "man" will be stuck in the blocks.
- Maybe later it will be a little boring, or it can add some bombs or moving blocks, which should be more interesting and hard.
- Sometimes the player registers as dead even when it is still on a platform. Conversely, sometimes it falls through a platform for no reason. Both are understandable bugs, though the game would be more fun without them.
- I think an indication of the player character's trajectory could be helpful, also gameplay could be refined to minimize bugs.
