How did you innovate on this product? (Optional)
For the first time ever, Fashion ForevAR combines 8th wall’s groundbreaking VPS technology with novel techniques for networking! We created a low-latency and scalable shared VPS experience on the web, using peer-to-peer networking to let the audience participate together with spatial emoji reactions. The wayspot location is used to co-localize users, ensuring that emoji visually come from the user who sends them.
How does it speak to Niantic's mission? (Optional)
Our demo blends seamlessly with the ZeroSpace wayspot, having models that **literally** step down off of the subway platform and walk down the painted side of the subway car. We decorated our virtual space with artwork from NYC street and subway artists. Fashion ForevAR’s demo runs on repeating cycle, and the audience can continually react and interact with the experience. This gives the opportunity for people to gather friends and strangers to join the timed activation together!
How complete is your project? (Optional)
Fashion ForevAR is functionally complete and is very robust. We have run multiple showings of it during the time at our hackathon! Fashion ForevAR features: A fashion show with 4 runway models that walk every 60 seconds, synced across all phones in the audience. A reaction system that allows the audience to support the models with fire emoji, that are seen by everyone in the audience. Decorative art showcasing the augmentation of the space with animations. A landing page with simple calls to action to onboard new users.
