Play game
Kyle's hell's itch.io pageWhat was your theme you chose?
A game where you suffer the mockery of me and the game won't stop scrolling.
Any obstacles you found while working that were hard to overcome?
Limited time and we lost our artist midway. Also trying to build with maintainability for a larger future project cost a lot of time.
Anything you had to ultimately cut from the game due to time or knowledge?
Most of the planned content but we intended to build basically from the ground up after the jam because we had some really cool ideas. Additionally due to build tools breaking, we had to use java despite planning to use c++ with raw openGL originally. Also there's no ending or final boss yet unfortunately though I don't think you'd notice with how difficult it is due to lack of tuning.
Anything really cool or interesting that you learned?
Grid colliders are still no fun. Figured out a nice new was of using enums to automatically register key listeners.
Do you think you will continue this project?
Definitely! We're planning to do a major rewrite of the stuff we built during crunch time that's super messy and build it into a full game with upgrades + roguelite aspects. A lot of this code infrastructure is included behind the scenes but not implemented fully. We've got some cool boss/story(ish) ideas and are hoping to work on it over the next month or so.
