I like this game. It's a cool zen inducing relaxer. The only thing I would suggest adding is the tree falling, cause who doesn't like to see big things fall down. Aside from that I don't really have anything to suggest, maybe a log counter so you get to see big number go up. A way to repair/upgrade the cabin with the wood collected might be cool, but would be a bit too complex for the goal game jam. Overall I thought it was great submission.

The strengths of this game are definitely the great consistency of the art style and really solid audio for the axe. The game feel is kind of lacking because when I chop a tree, it just disappears. And from a core mechanic perspective - there isn't really a challenge or a downside to what I'm doing, and there may very well be interest in that sort of thing as a relaxing experience, but it even that would be improved with like... the axe denting the tree, particles flying, and then the tree falls and you feel the impact as it hits the ground and the branches shake, etc. specifically because we are so focused on this one thing. But these are details, I'm willing to state them here because this is quite high quality for the game jam. Really well done!

Hi Andrzej, glad you got it working.

I agree that the game feel is lacking. Im still learning on how to instantiate particles and make the tree falls.

Also, thanks for hosting this jam. It makes me experiment and learn some new stuff like the unity hdrp, the terrain system and the tree destruction script.

I may be tempted to make this into a free steam game. As I can see some people may enjoy the relaxing experience like the unpacking simulator game.

Hope you will host another game jam with some unique theme like this in the future.

Absolutely, yeah this is terrific stuff! I'm glad you enjoyed the experience and thanks for posting the game!

My dream life (except that dome surrounding the player lol)... a cottage in the middle of the woods, far from people with the sounds of nature. Sharp axe is just a nice bonus and I could start a side gig as an Axe  murderer... of trees.

The movement feels nice, chopping has a nice weight to it, but I lack the tree fallign animation and a satisfying crack of the treetrunk and a loud "Timbeeeer!" while it falls on your coworkers.

The visual is nice enough, but I must say I miss debris on the ground, leaves, bushes etc.

Kinda feeels like a simulation you run on a space ship to escape claustrophopbia and relese some anger :)

Developer

Hahaha, the dome is there initially because I want to incorporate a story into the game but decide the scrap it.

The story goes like this: You are living in the future and you are tasked to chop the trees down in the dome. The plot twist is that the dome is a time chamber which speeds the time of everything inside. So the tree will grow significantly faster and you realized you are getting weaker and weaker and eventually dies of old age.

Looks really good, well done) Ambient and sounds are made pretty cool, especially there is an opportunity to dig in the settings

So, not sure what happened but the game crashed my entire PC seconds after loading the main menu o.O
I'll give it another go tomorrow but might be something that needs looking at?

Developer

Hmm... Do you mean the game crash to window (or like a window pop up showing not responding), or it makes your entire PC hang?

HostSubmitted

It literally froze my entire PC o.O I couldn't even open task manager haha. I'm pretty sure my graphics card is nvidia.

Developer

oh dam.. I'm not sure why then. I tried opening the game with my work pc with integrated graphic and i managed to get into the game scene.

I will try Googling if this has something to do with hdrp or some of the assets I used

HostSubmitted

I tried again and it seemed to work much better. Will leave a review now :)

Also, are you using AMD graphic card?
