- I was quite excited to play this, as I am a fan of both Robot Arena 2 and Robot Wars Arenas of Destruction. Although the core gameplay was there and felt really good, unclear setup UI and control assignment bugs prevented me from enjoying it as much as I potentially could have. Some focus on the UI and UX would serve to elevate this though, as it's a super fun concept. Setting up the game with multiple players is a bit of a nightmare and not all of the UI elements are accessible via the controller. The documentation looked like a good start, but felt more like a pitch for the game rather than a set of requirements that you could give to a team. Each feature needs to be separated and then broken down into their core requirements so that the team are able to make it.
- Robot wars with janky physics - add a few more AI & arena types - polish up the audio / camera issues (camera wasn't focusing on P1 when only them vs AI) and get some announcer esque character in there and get online multiplayer sorted & you've got a twitch clip game. Game was fun solo vs AI - can see how fun it would be against other players - damage feedback against the robots wasn't immediately visible so would suggest things like sparks / smoke etc - basically a visual health meter. Documentation is good for a high concept but for actual project documentation is a bit lacking, however goals outlined in it are achieved. All in all - solid concept, solid delivery - if worked on further would be something fun to watch other people play / play with friends.
- The aesthetic is there but within about 20 seconds of my first session all the robots had been flipped and we were just left there waiting for something to happen, I think the rules manager for the game mode needs to be a bit more robust.
