  • Really superb environment - from the assets to the lighting and composition of your renders. You have rendered the environment using a lot of cinematic techniques and it really works well to show the environment and give atmosphere. The storytelling is really good, and your choices of color for the lighting create a very atmospheric and intriguing scene, which isn't exclusively driven by the environmental assets alone. It's nice to see your use of a trim sheet to create most of the wooden assets - It would be great to see a breakdown of other textures and materials i.e. any high to low baking? Are you using procedural textures/materials from Substance Designer? The gifs showing your procedural books, vertex painting and progress shots on your portfolio work really well to get an understanding of your technical abilities and how you approach environment design.
  • Very accomplished scene that could benefit even further from some lighting adjustments. - Every asset in this scene tells a story. I love that. Each has been crafted in a way that complements the rest of the scene. There are a couple points to consider: - The scene looks like it has a sharpness filter applied to it that sometimes times makes things a bit hard to read. My eyes are drawn to the crispness rather than the subtle surface and material information. - While the scene is atmospheric and nicely lit, it suffers from being too dark overall. It wasn't until I saw the untextured screenshot that I noticed the amount of work that had gone into placement of assets around the desk and at the top of the stairs. In fact I didnt even know there were book cases up there until I saw that shot. Boosting the ambient lighting by 20% might help. - While I light the candle light it would have been great to see a shot with the chandelier and the interest that would have bought from shadows etc. Overall I can't fault the effort that has gone into this. Great job.
