  • Documentation nonexistent in the submission file Sort of exists on the linked website, but I’m not judging stuff on linked websites, I’m judging submitted files. Game is fairly well put together but suffers from a clunky control scheme, would have been interesting to see the reasoning behind that in supporting documentation but as mentioned, none available. Game has a well presented art style and easy to follow gameplay loop, but suffers from lack of player feedback for things like “health” – managed to tank most of the damage in the game before suddenly getting a dark screen and dying. At which point I went back to the first checkpoint of the level? I’m guess the checkpoint remembers what color you were at the time and goes back to that one if you died while that one (E.g. – first checkpoint, red, die after checkpointing while green, but die while red – go back to the first checkpoint). Not the most user friendly or well explained checkpoint system if that is the case (again, lack of documentation explaining this) Fair few camera clipping issues as well but nothing game breaking. Solid little piece that lets itself down in presentation & with the controls, as well as a lack of documentation.
  • Really nice presentation, definitely one of the best looking entries in the list; The layout of the area shows that some care has been taken with the puzzle design - It feels like thought has been put into the use of the core mechanic, it actually feels "core" to the gameplay with how it works alongside the platforming and interactions. 3D platformers are quite well trod ground at this point, and though that isnt necessarily a bad thing the influence of other 3D platformer/puzzle games such as portal is pretty clear here.
  • I couldn't find any documentation for this, so I was unable to judge it. This game was well thought out. The puzzles ramped up nicely with a clear progression throughout the experience. Combining earlier mechanics such as the button with the beams from the latter part of the game during the final puzzle before the boss was a great example of multiplicative puzzle design. The art was also visually appealing and had a uniform style which presented a good level of polish. That being said, for a game that is so reliant on colour, I think a colourblind person would find this game a challenge to play. Where possible, accompany the colours in the game with bespoke iconography so that there are more points of reference and differentiation between the different colours. The camera control could use some work. Having the camera inherit animation and rotational movement from the player is disorienting. The physics were also a bit funky in places, but all in all this was a nicely accomplished game.
