  • This was well put together, and very ambitious, however it felt like there was a lack of focus in the design here. The core mechanics were there, but they all felt rather shallow and the game suffered from a quantity over quality approach. There is potential here to make something polished and engaging, but have a think about your game's personality and try to home in on it a bit more. The documentation felt more like a guide of what was in the game than a blueprint. If you were to give this to a programmer or another designer, more detail would be needed, such as the hows and whys of your decision-making process and how they apply to other disciplines.
  • this had a lot more depth than I expected - there's a good amount of content in here , and thought has been put into it as evidenced in your documentation. Good use has been made of third party assets to make consistent visuals. This is a game with a lot of playable content, so I advise looking into smaller moment-to-moment gameplay - refining what your systems and game feel to make it really slick.
  • No documentation present in submitted files. - Documentation is available on portfolio website. not submitted here so not rating it. is well laid out and presents needed information though. just not in the submitted files for some reason. Game is gamepad only. good thing I have a gamepad or couldn't play it. Game is visually very well put together, presentation is well done and easy to follow. Gameplay - very easy to get soft locked in first area - if there is a melee attack I couldn't find it, ran out of ammo with enemies alive, unable to progress. Restart - bit further, same problem. getting stuck due to stuff like that is rather frustrating. Basically, it's very pretty & shiny up front but lacks any massive substance behind, demo takes place in what i'm guessing is a mid point, would be a lot more productive and show better design theory to have it represent the first level / opening segment / tutorialise everything so it's easy for new players / people going in blind. also shows off your understanding of gameplay mechanics a lot better than designing a mid chunk with no context and assuming people will just pick it up. Overall, good presentation but lets itself down in execution. players being able to become soft locked by running out of ammo is very present problem.
