The concept and the mechanics are really nice. I think this could be great with some visual polishing.
I’m currently changing all the maze visuals to make it look more like a corn field with fences, instead of a maze made of walls. It’s a huge improvement (unsurprisingly :P).
Many things to do but I like breaking out of the maze
Eh, I’m here to support the download only gang <3 I enjoyed the game, I’d recommend adding sound effects. Sounds make a game “feel” better. Also, I wasn’t sure if the ladders were meant to be climbable so that part confused me a bit, but the concept was really fun to play.
Love to the download only-gang! I wanted to publish to the web, but Godot has way too many warnings and issues that didn’t make it possible at all. Biggest problem was the character constantly getting stuck in walls with the built-in physics engine, and 97% of those went away by changing to Jolt – which doesn’t support web export.
Sorry about the ladders. I ran out of time. The idea was that only the biggest character would be able to climb them. And yes to sound effects, you’re totally right.
Fun game, the race against the AI keeps it intense and provides motivation to pick up the corn. The mini-map is a nice addition.
The controls are really smooth, it's actually pretty relaxing to play. However, I didn't feel very motivated to change the character's size beyond the smallest size, as that makes it the easiest to move around. I'm also not crazy about the visuals, but I didn't mind too much as this was genuinely fun!
Yeah, it certainly needs more incentives to make the size change mechanic feel good. It’s not balanced at all currently. I’ve been thinking about changing the pieces into head/torso/legs instead, and making it possible to make different combinations (either random, or with pickups), and e.g. requiring arms (= torso) for climbing ladders, legs for jumping and moving properly (maybe no legs would make the character walk by pushing off the ground with the arms, and head only would maybe be rolling. Also, not having a head could impair vision, and not being tall could remove the minimap. Dunno. Many weird options.
Thanks for your comment!
Nice take on the theme. The controls are smooth and feel good.
Fun race game! Really interesting concept!
