The game is not friendly for beginners at all. You should make an interactive tutorial for people to understand, or like an NPC that guides you to the first quest.
Some instructions on how to interact with the objects (Press E) would've been helpful. Also describe how this fits with the theme (if it's something more abstract or figurative). 40 minutes is a bit too long to decide who to save, maybe give a skip button that skips to the apocalypse. Characters and personalities are good.
