Briefly describe your projects key features and tech stack used
Sky to the Rescue is a platform game in which the objective is to collect as many keys as possible, scoring points while avoiding obstacles that appear progressively in the scene. The player must use gravity with precision, avoiding colliding with obstacles in order not to lose. When jumping, Sky barks, and when failing, she emits a special sound.
Some of the tools used in development are:
• Scaniverse: to scan Sky, the game's protagonist.
• GarageBand: for musical composition.
• Voce AI: for the game's voices and narration.
• Blender: to model and polish 3D assets.
• Photoshop: to edit images and 2D assets.
Other resources used include Gaussian Splat Format, physics with Colliders, MP3 sound and UI tools.
What was the inspiration for your project?
“Sky to the Rescue” was born from my personal experience with Sky, my German Shepherd, whom I adopted a few months ago. Inspired by her and with the opportunity to experiment with the new tools from Niantic Studio and Scanniverse, I saw the possibility of creating something unique: using technology to solve real-world problems digitally. Noticing the number of homeless dogs in my city, the idea for this project arose.
I decided to develop a narrative where Sky, my pet, became the protagonist, promoting the adoption of homeless animals. I used Scanniverse to scan Sky and bring her into the digital world as the heroine of my game. In addition, I composed a song for her to give even more color and life to this experience, adding a special touch that connects players to the cause in an emotional and fun way.”
