  • Controls really nicely! You made good use of the assets you gathered, but the gameplay was rather 'bog-standard' and I'd like to see you mix it up and add some innovative features. Great first attempt!
  • For a first game you did a great job! The platforming is pretty good and its great to see multiple levels. Game Jams are tough because of the time constraint and you were able to make a complete game, thats a great accomplishment.
  • I'm impressed with how much your team has been able to achieve as first time game developers. You understood the scope and your own limitations, which allowed you to create a game with working mechanics and free of bugs! My recommendation for this game is that touching an enemy is too punishing, as you die immediately with no opportunity to recover. Like in Mario, having a second chance if you get hit to be able to continue would make the game a little more forgiving. I also think the art could be a bit more cohesive, since you chose assets for the characters and the background that distinguish themselves quite a lot from each other. However, I do think the assets you chose are very visually appealing despite this. I hope to see you continue your journey into game development and continue making fun games with amazing people :)
  • Great first attempt on a platformer- good selections on art assets to borrow, and some nice tightness on the elasticity of controls. Would really like to see improvements to the state changes, so that coins getting picked up feel better, or dying doesn't just slam you into a menu. That said, this is a solid effort, and sounds like a great learning experience- and a smart acknowledgement of what needed to be done yourself and what could be borrowed from existing assets.
  • I love the framing of the theme in an emotional lesson of a deceased king giving his princess one last lesson. When you have the word collection implemented I think this would be really good. One recommendation, have the character collect one word's worth of letters per level to slowly build the message. For a first attempt in Godot, your 2d character controls were solid. Your game had a full loop, and I played through it multiple times. Consider what makes your gameplay different from traditional platformers - what is the 'innovation'? For audio, keep the background music playing instead of restarting on death. Otherwise it can become repetitive. Coin collection, monster's dying - all of these benefit from audio cues. Great job, especially for a first game!

Unfortunate that the theme was not implemented for the jam submission date, but that doesn't make it a bad submission :) The movement was fluid and the animations were nice. I know they were sourced, but (assuming they're from different sources) it takes finesse to put them together.

Really smooth movement/jump mechanics! I like the story too :) Neat how you can kill the monsters by jumping on their heads

This was fun! I was able to get better after a bit of time!
