Accomplishments
We learned, prototyped, and implemented voronoi noise as a mechanic fairly quickly and used one of the other wildcards (Spin It) as a secondary mechanic to add more fun.
This was the first time one of the contributors worked with audio and he did a phenomenal job making the bgm playful but frantic when sped up and dismal when slowed down.
Learnings
Next time, we would reach out to an artist or designer to help with the tone and aesthetics of the game.
While the visuals work to convey the gameplay, it is very much programmer art and can be pushed to show more excitement and get players invested in their towers. Animations and particle effects to sell the crushing sense of losing a tower or breaking through the opponent would go a long way.
