Briefly describe your projects key features and tech stack used
The project was built using 8thWall and Niantic's Lightship VPS. Custom components were written for safety-minded splash screens, tutorials, video and audio playback, and scene controls for multiple historical stories.

What was the inspiration for your project?
Muncie, Indiana, used to be known as "Little Chicago." In the early 1900s, 25,000 people lived in its downtown district. Now, that number sits around 1000. Over the 20th century, the city paved over its history. DWNTWN Muncie is an organization working to bring life back to the downtown area. We partnered with them to give that history back to the town through AR. Working with our archives at Ball State University, we found stories to rekindle pride in the city's cultural heritage. We see our work as part of the broader effort to democratize the XR space in small towns and rural communities.
