THE LONGER JAM FOR LONGER GAMES

Take your 20-second game and make it into a full game!

Remember that amazing 20 second game you made? The one that left players wanting more? Now's your chance to give them exactly that! The 20 Million Second Game Jam is all about taking your entry from any 20 Second Game Jam or TeenyTiny DragonRuby MiniGameJam (any year!) and expanding it into a complete, full-length game. No more 20-second restrictions. No more mandatory web builds. Just you, your idea, and the freedom to make it as big as you dreamed it could be!

This jam is relaxed and beginner friendly. There are no judges, rankings or prizes. We encourage you to submit early, share your development progress, and get feedback from the community. Join the 20 Second Game Jam Discord to get news, ask questions, join a team, share updates or just hang out with other jammers!

THE CHALLENGE

Pick any game you submitted to a 20 Second Game Jam or TeenyTiny DragonRuby MiniGameJam from any year and expand it into a full game! Add the levels you couldn't fit. Implement the mechanics you had to cut. Tell the story you only had time to hint at. This is your chance to take that kernel of an idea and grow it into something complete.

Share your progress! Submit your game early, even if it's unfinished. Write about your development process, post updates, get feedback from the community, and iterate based on what players tell you. This jam is all about the journey of expanding your idea.

WHAT IS THE 20 SECOND GAME JAM?

The 20 Second Game Jam challenges developers to create complete, playable games that last exactly 20 seconds. It began life in 2020 as the TeenyTiny DragonRuby MiniGameJam and has grown into a beloved annual tradition with hundreds of creative entries.

The 20Ms Game Jam is the natural next step - a place to take those brilliant 20-second ideas and expand them into full experiences. Think of it as the "director's cut" of your 20-second game!

FAQ

Which 20-second game should I expand?

Any game you submitted to any 20 Second Game Jam or TeenyTiny DragonRuby MiniGameJam from any year! Pick the one you're most excited about developing further.

Can I expand someone else's 20-second game?

Only if you have their explicit permission and they're credited as a co-creator. The spirit of this jam is to develop your own ideas further.

How long should my expanded game be?

As long or short as you want! There's no time limit. Make a 5-minute experience or a 5-hour epic - it's entirely up to you.

Do I need to make a web build?

No! Web builds are encouraged because they're easy for people to play, but they're not required. Release on any platform(s) you choose.

What game engines can I use?

Any engine you like! You can even switch engines from your original 20-second game if that makes development easier.

How different does my game need to be from the original 20-second version?

That's up to you! You could add more levels to the same core mechanic, completely overhaul the gameplay, add a story, improve the graphics, or anything else. As long as there's a clear connection to your original 20s jam entry, you're good.

Can I work with a team?

Yes! If you don't already have a team, join the Discord server and post in the #team-up channel to find teammates.

Can I start working on my game before the jam starts?

Yes! If you already have ideas or even work-in-progress for expanding your 20-second game, that's fine. Submit what you have and keep updating it throughout the jam!

Can I submit more than one expanded game?

You can submit as many as you like, but please ensure they follow the rules and are made to a reasonable standard.

Can I submit an unfinished game?

Yes! In fact, we encourage you to submit early and update as you go. Share your progress, get feedback, and involve the community in your development journey. Your game doesn't need to be finished when you submit it.

I don't have a 20-second game from a previous jam. Can I still participate?

Unfortunately no. This jam is exclusively for people who have already submitted an entry to any 20 Second Game Jam or TeenyTiny DragonRuby MiniGameJam (from any year). If you missed the jams, keep an eye out for future 20 Second Game Jams!
