A list of my personal favorites from the gamejams I've contributed to.

This one came at a tough time, and I cobbled together a Wolfenstein 3D clone in about two days to take my mind off things.  To make matters even worse, about half of the content was lost due to computer hardware failure just hours before submission!  A valuable lesson about git was learned that day.

Despite everything that surrounded this game, I had a lot of fun developing it and have continued working on it quietly in the background with new stages, new characters, and a fun story attached.

The dating sim opening was done completely on a whim based on a few jokes exchanged around the community, and the code thrown together in this jam eventually became the baseline for a new custom dialogue solution called SpeakEZ.

Special thanks to Studio Pyralis, hosts of TobuJam.  I appreciate their understanding with my entry as I fought tooth-and-nail to ship it despite the last minute catastrophe.

This game suffered from some unexpected setbacks in the form of a BSP tool that broke our animations.  And for a 72 hour jam... what a mess!

Despite this, our team of two pulled together some incredibly crafty ideas to make it work.  My personal contribution to the game was the gun mechanics, including the animation system-- every gun is made of modular metal pieces held together by lightning, forming together into different guns as you swap through your arsenal.  Due to the bug I mentioned above, every animation had to be done in C#.  Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time in the jam to do the same for enemies.

I also wrote some custom shaders to handle the Healthbar mechanics, where you can damage healthbars to dislodge them from enemies and collect them as energy.

While we were only able to get a single level polished enough for ship, the game is very mechanic-rich and has potential.

While my contributions in this game were scarce as far as programming goes, the team we had for this game was incredible.  We made it through some unexpected setbacks and submitted a very well-presented story driven stealth game.  It was also the first game I shipped that used FMOD and something of a learning project for me.

This was my first game in Ludum Dare that truly felt like a game, with its quick pace and arcade action.  The end result has a fun energy to it, and it was the first game I contributed to with high quality pixel art.  I'm also particularly happy with my music contributions to this game.

This game features all kinds of cool mechanics, and my data science background really paid off here!  As my first real dive into procedural content this game features a semi-procedural map decoration system, completely randomized character profiles, and other goodies.  There were even more plans, like procedural roads and props, but those had to be scrapped for time.

I'm particularly proud of the intro we managed to cram in there-- syncing up the musical buildup to the reveal of the main menu scene with the endless line of zombie soldiers the most impactful first impression I could ask for.  I wish we managed to get the PA announcer in there, but time crunch is time crunch.

We had so many polished audiovisual additions in the game that I wish could have shipped-- a Ministry announcer that would give voiced objectives, a whole bunch of random downtime banter provided in ANUBITEK's fantastic patrol VO, and more.  Unfortunately, we only had time to clean the audio and set up filters, and the nonessential audio sits in the game unused.

This game is near the top of my list for postjam potential because I feel that the dark and dreary setting would make for an amazing Syndicate successor where you sit at the center of the war between the Ministry and the 122 Rebellion, deploying armies of undead and exploring a fully procedural set of city blocks.
