My favorite walking simulators. By homemade I mean likely made by one person as a passion project, and generally free. Often done in Unity, part of the charm is the rough scrapbook aesthetic many of these games have.
This kind of game was really pioneered by game designer thecatamites and CryptWorlds by Lilith. I believe the genre's vibe originates with RPGMaker games like Yume Nikki and SpaceFuneral.
Unity walking sim with lots of NPC interaction and a bizarre yet intriguing atmosphere. Unfortunately hard to finish, due to rough design.
Light Puzzle Platforming. Small world with a kind of sweltering vibe?
A short walksim with a flat shaded aesthetic. Does not have an ending, does not have NPC dialogue, but does have a good bit of text to read.
An absolute classic of the genre, don't forget the supplemental material. Has an ending, has NPC dialogue.
