WARNING! This Is Really COOL!

Allow for me to ramble about other games that I genuinely find amazing and cool through various genres and themes as they have done something eye-catchy enough for me to disregard my own sorting methods and dump them here. They're just things I find cool and awesome to read through due to their immersive worldbuilding, character, and plot.

I am genuine when I think of them as Cool since we all have different definitions of that word. I might specify briefly what I think is cool about these individual games, VNs, or IFs I have included here~!

A sweet visual novel about getting isekai'd into a candy-themed gacha game!

Cool Factors:

  • Art, listen, the visuals are cute as fuck and unique. It compliments well with the overall story and ties all the characters in especially handling sharper older characters in its cutesy style well enough that they aren't just twinkified personas.
  • Writing, it's quite well done from what I can tell, each part is useful and tells a story not just about the plot or setting but of the characters and their characteristics. It's also quite dynamic and shifts how MC perceives things after a major turn where it was previously daydreaming and disjointed now focused and grounded in reality.
  • Characters, from both Peppermint and Lakritz, the two LIs that are shown in the VN, they're more than just the stereotypical character roles they are assigned and show depth and realistic flaws, even to MC who is her own character but has traits that are similar to many that you find yourself painfully relating to.

Overall, I initially didn't find any desire to play this but I just wanted something to kill time as I downloaded another game. So I took a chance with this and oh boy, I didn't expect myself to enjoy this to this level. At first, I liked it from a player perspective but then I began to appreciate it on a more writer and sort of artist perspective. There's a lot of good art here especially in the background as it's pink af but doesn't kill your eyes and ties the whole world together, and the writing is quite good and centered towards the progression of MC and the world.

I don't know how to properly explain it but I just have to say that this is really worth your time to explore and have fun with the demo!

A short horror romance story with Yandere, talking to MC on TV.
Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • Visuals, it honestly looks so cool, especially the character design because they feel so interesting and its good eye candy.
  • Story, while the story is wonky in places, the translation seems off, and the pacing is quite confusing, once you dig a bit deeper and explore a bit more some semblance of the plot is achievable and it paints a sad story for Liotte who has to endure a lot with MC being oblivious.

I remember I wanted to play this as soon as possible but due to responsibilities in life I couldn't. But now that I've played it, it honestly felt a bit worth it. Granted, the pacing of the story is quite confusing and the translation feels stiff, but there was actually something curious going on.

I like how it worked and acted, everything just gave me the good old "theorists" kind of switch as I curiously went through everything. I feel as though, while it can be confusing, it can be rewarding going through it and experiencing the difference in the script and what we learn from Liotte and the world around us. So, it's a good visual novel that really makes it up with its stellar visuals and music choice.

(REMAKE) A cute girl kidnapped you. A psychological visual novel.
Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • Relationship, the relationship between MC and Henrietta is so deep and toxic. I can't say much about it but as the visual novel progresses, you can see how utterly destructive they are to one another. You can gleam how they are dependent to one another in all the wrong ways and how complex and unhealthy their relationship is. While Henrietta can be an actual person or hallucination conjured by MC's mind, it is still interesting how they latch on to one another and how MC assigns a role to Henrietta without knowing.
  • Symbolism, for me it's character symbolism especially with Henrietta's role to MC. All of this is my theory but to me I feel as though Henrietta was set to punish MC for the guilt they felt over their abandoned works and the depression just playing 4D with them. All of this could be seen in the visual novel with how violent MC is towards Henrietta when the girl herself doesn't become violent towards MC until the very end during the 2 normal endings.
  • Escape Portion, I have to say, this really drove home the creepy and existential factor. The escape portion held a lot of interesting nuances and mind fuckery while also shedding light into MC's own mental state because clearly, something is very wrong but MC is trapped within the confines of the "basement" with the sins they perceive themselves to have.
  • Story, I just absolutely adore how the story stayed the same but there was so much depth and complexities regarding not just who Henrietta is, but also the relationship and psyche MC has because clearly, MC isn't just a bystander or innocent.

God, I just really adore how things progressed and how so much interactive things are.  I love the tidbits of something off, and how nothing makes sense until you have the full picture. It's actually kind of difficult once you get to the final door puzzle so you should check out the walkthrough because genuinely, it was difficult for me to even understand what code was needed and what.

Highly recommend trying this out! I was really blown away by the amount of details, nuances, and story that was packed inside. I had a blast playing this and I really think more people should try it!

You are a detective investigating for a missing person's case when you stumble into the unexpected supernatural.

Cool Factors:

  • Writing, the writing here is impeccable, superb. It's so atmospheric and interesting, keeps you sucked in and entertained. I really love how the dev was able to capture such dread and horror with her writing and provide such a visceral feeling of horror in your bones. She really makes use of those content warnings...
  • Effects, by far, it's eerie and terrifying how each sound effect and animated text moves together with the writing and enhances the feeling of whatever you are going through. Especially when it follows along the story and makes you go forward with the sound effects accompanying you.
  • Worldbuilding, it's partly with the writing but there is something quite interesting in how the dev really took her time and expanded the world MC inhabits throughout the codex, clues, case logs, and so on. It really helps make you feel like a detective and utterly pulls you in the story.

I really do love this VN as I am more pulled in by the MC being a detective and you can really feel it sometimes (I'm not interested in the LIs yet since we don't know much about them and we are still within the Prologue portion) and I like how slowly we're building our MC. I'd love to recommend this but you have to really look through the content warnings and be aware of what's going to happen, always check the settings if you want to adjust it to your enjoyment~!

Spooks and scares await two guys when they stop at a motel for the night
Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • Mixed Media, by far one of the things present here is the form of mixed media in the VN, they add in many factors such as 3D, videos, and so on and honestly it grows on you and enhances the experience. I really am loving it even though it took some time to get used to, and honestly it's really fun if not terrifying since I am terrified of having to move places...
  • Scares, honestly, they actually terrified me so much that I had to hover my hand over my eyes, I don't even know why especially when the antagonist is a literal blob of purple goo but it must have been the build up overtime and that's such a good thing.
  • Sound Effects, they were not at all conservative towards their sound effects and they honestly did such a good job adding it and spacing them out while also keeping in the background, each and every sound effect did amazing in heightening the feeling of anxiety and dread Kirby (our MC) goes through and frankly it made me damn near jump every time something else happens.
  • Immersive Atmosphere, I cannot kid you when I say this has such an immersive mood that you're literally being pulled in to what Kirby is feeling, although he sounds abrasive and is too awkward for his own, he has his own troubles and plights that are broad and general enough that you can emphasize in, to the point you're sucked in his hysteria.
  • Randomization, it says on the game page that the order of scares are random therefore not one playthrough will feel similar which is honestly such a unique experience that gives more incentive to try and play the VN all over again.
  • Title Screen, just wait a few minutes for it. You'll find it absolutely odd, amusing, and random.

I am not going to lie, I picked this up because it gave me Filipino vibes and I am from the Philippines. However, even then I was genuinely impressed how everything worked and the many intricacies that were laid out. It's a simple premise of a story, but the thing that makes it stand out is their clever use of mixed media and sound effects.

Honestly, it gave me such a feeling of dread that I was terrified and felt like I was Kirby, it was such an experience that I urge people to try it out as nothing inherently "bad" happens, but it is something you just need to see and play to understand.

Cool Factors:

  • Music, I don't know why but the music is here is really cool omg. It's got that whimsical carnival sophisticated touch that I just really adore listening to, and it really fits the Crooked Man himself.
  • Aesthetics, there's something in the way the art is done that just gives an itch in my brain, I really adore how it looks and it's just amazing work.
  • Multiple Endings, despite it being a little repetitive, I was blown away when I realized there were actually SIX endings that you can unlock which is really impressive given the limitations of the game jam!
  • The Crooked Man, as a character he's quite intriguing and it's obvious there's more to his story than what the game jam could show, as such I'm realy excited when the creator says there will be more of him~

For a game jam, this really blew my mind over how well polished it is. It gave me quite the delight and it was fun to explore the man endings and even have fun with it. I do wish we saw more of the different candies the Crooked Man gave us, but again since this was an O2A2 limitations were sadly a part of it. But other than that, it gave me such a creative boost that I really love it!

Help out a supervillain in exchange for a secret of his!
Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • Everything. Must I say anything.

I'm sobbing, crying, I will bang walls and floor as I am in love with this VN. From the art to the story to the characters-- I am in love and it's so fucking CUTE THAT I WOULD PUT IT IN MY COZY GAMES IF I WAS NOT GOING TO SAY "No, this is actually really cute" BUT IT'S TIED SO HELP ME GOD!

It isn't making me cozy or relaxed, I am pumped with energy, I am brainrotting, I am in love with their dynamic YOU BETTER PLAY THIS BECAUSE IT'S HONESTLY REALLY CUTE AND IT FEELS COMPLETE EVEN WITH THE LIMITED TIME, WORD, ASSET, AND SO ON!

Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • GUI, my god I was absolutely obsessed with how it turned out. Like it's so... unique in a sense, honestly it felt a lot more futuristic than the vibe the VN was going for but it was really cool once you get used to it since it can be quite tricky.
  • Art, the sprite for Eliot was just intriguing and colorful, it helped stand him out from the dull bleak background but also giving him that unease wide eyed look, he looks like a Victorian boy but with more color and apparent trauma.
  • Story, the story itself is intriguing and misdirects you at the very last second. Since I was playing on the browser I was free from that timed event and yet was panicking because I was wondering why none of the clues I gathered was working-- until I realized they were not clues, they were red herrings.

I really adore this VN, I love how it paces and presents itself. Highly recommend you try it out and experience itself! Especially with Eliot's unhinged behavior and his atrocities.

An interview with a serial killer
Visual Novel
Play in browser

Cool Factors:

  • Voice Acting, there's something so soft and calming yet oddly deranged and smooth in how the creator voiced their character. It's exactly what I envisioned for a character like Mel. And there's that calm and detached undertone that she's in control of the entire situation which is very foreshadow-y.
  • Art, listen, I love how it looks. Mel looks like your everyday girl (save for her piercing eyes which I really love) and everything else looks so straight and rigid and then here's Mel looking like a pop of unsettling colors and eeriness.
  • Character, Mel is such an interesting character for me. Because on one hand you think she's this insane person with a big ego since she was a serial killer and the odd ticks she has. I'm wondering what happened in her life to make her like this.

Something about how the entire VN is put together is just really good to me. It scratches something in my brain and I absolutely love it. I love how everything is subtle (music, background, etc.) but Mel, her words, and her batshit words are just cherry on the top. Highly recommend you download the VN instead of playing it on the browser because the voice acting is good as it compliments Mel and immerses you in the story without being overly dramatic.

Cool Factors:

  • Writing, I must say, I really like how the story wove itself. Since it's quite short I really can't talk much lest I spoil it (and I also had to change the somewhat title of this segment since it might be a spoiler) and it's honestly really good! You can also really feel how something's wrong and the uneasiness of the situation.
  • Art, gotta say, I love how they use dark dull colors. Even though it kind of blends into each other, it really gives off that somber almost uneasy feeling. It's very good~

I really wanted to say more but I don't want to spoil it. To many it might be predictable but I wasn't expecting it so I'm really happy with the end results. I wish it was expanded more and deal with the twists and turns of the MC's point of view but for a game jam, it's really good.

Will you find the right way behind a dead man's letter?
Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • Art, it's so soothing and calming to look through, not only that but the combination of the colors look absolutely pleasing to the eye.
  • Puzzle, admittedly, it can be tricky the first time around but it's really fun and rewarding when you get to solve it properly! You just keep your eyes peeled throughout the introduction with every restart of the visual novel.
  • Point and Click, there's really something really cool about this aspect in the visual novel, probably having to do with how I adore point and click games.
  • Voice Acting, it's a bit awkward but I love the attempt made and how cool it fits Lauthis'.

Honestly had a blast playing this! Love the puzzle, the way the order is done, the unconventional thinking, and the slight stories we get about the characters. I really wish there was more purely so that I could learn more about Lauthis and Jarred!

Cool Factors:

  • Story, honestly the story is pinnacle. Not like a revolutionary sense but it's just really cool to me how it twists and drags you into the narrative. It makes quite the commentary towards the Church and the hypocrisy while also pointing out the dangers. And honestly I like how karma or punishment is being dealt depending on the MC.
  • Music, pairs nicely with the story and is quite dynamic, gives you another layer of immersion!

I like it since not only is it short but gives you the message or plot of the story, it also is interesting enough to want to read more about it.

go on a perfectly normal date(?) in this cute horror VN!

Cool Factors:

  • Art, very quirky and unique, I love how colorful it looks!
  • Story, it's shrouded by mystery but it's so entertaining to read through the explanation the developer shared after you complete the game and get the two endings. Really rounds it up!

It's pretty short but very entertaining, especially with the subtle nuances and the literal changes of how the plot directs itself.

A bewitching otome and BL dating sim
Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • Art, hands down, the art is so wonderful and beautiful. I love how just-- freakin' bautiful everyone is, not only that but they look so visually appealing and gorgeous which is highlighted by their character. The background scenes are all stunning and I could spend hours just gazing upon its beauty.
  • Story, the story is just so mysterious and intriguing, the way everything just plays itself to be makes my writer mind go very crazy and theorize a hell of a lot more, especially with the title, the connection between the Witch of Beauty, and our very own MC. Just, I can't. Also the way things are worded, with jokes, character dynamics-- everything is so amazing I am crying.
  • Worldbuilding, MUST I SAY I AM A WHORE FOR GOOD WORLDBUILDING AND GOOD BABY I ADORE THE WORLD OF BEWITCHING SINNERS!! It's so mystiful and has so much lore points that I just want to dive right in and absorb all of these knowledge. Especially when they take something that we know quite a lot about and turn it into something different and unique.
  • MC, I am a slut for them, moving on.
  • Characters, they're all so lively and dynamic, meshing well against one another while also showing their unique traits yet being fluid enough to not let those traits fully define them. They feel quite real yet not so because they belong to a completely different world which is just fantastic.

Man, I think I rambled a hell lot but it's just so stunning visually and the story drags you in, so far I haven't explored fully but from what I've gleaned-- honestly it really is worth the experience, especially with such a rich story driven world with casual interactions and the dating aspect. It isn't so prevalent from where I have played up till, but I hope the dating aspect doesn't fully throw itself on your face because the world around MC is just-- stunning.

Visual Novel

Cool Factors

  • Art and Story, my god is it truly a beauty, the art is superb, absolutely heart-stopping and a pleasure to look at, and it's such a thrilling visual novel but it is quite mature and though it has hints of violence (maybe explicit I'm not sure) they make sure to outline this but also give you an option to take a breather.
  • "Aftercare" or "Safeword" aspects, this is here if you accidentally trigger yourself due to the mature themes of the visual novel or if you find the material to be much heavier than expected, the visual novel does not shame you at all and encourages you to take the time you need.
  • Characters, the design of the characters translate very well to their occupation and personality, when you see them you can instantly tell who they are supposed to be and their personalities are complimented well with their character design, especially with their masks which is just a cool concept.
  • MC, this MC has such a breath of life to them, they're snarky and mouthy, but based on your choices they can be reasonable and strategic. I love to read through the MC's dialogue and adore how they are played out in the story.

Man, I've seen this bounce around and I never truly understood the hype until I finally played it and enjoyed myself! Thankfully, I didn't stray too far into the Bad Endings aside from one that was thankfully not that visceral or gory but it was a pleasant experience nonetheless. The guides helped me here and there but it was truly an experience. The world building was interesting but I think the visual aspects of teh visual novel really hits how amazing it is. Highly recommend to try it!

Blinded & bound, can you free yourself from your captor? Would you even want to?
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • Mysterious Plot, I will say, I was absolutely enthralled by  the mystique of this visual novel. Not only that but I couldn't help but wonder what on earth was happening. It's got a mysterious slow paced to it that I couldn't help but fall for.
  • Dialogue, it's honestly creative how the looping dialogue gets added for more context, like what Shrek says, "Onions have layers" and this visual novel has a lot of them. The story begins to get fleshed out with each added and repeated dialogue, making the story a bit less blurry but still mysterious.
  • MC and LI's Relationship, not gonna lie they're absolutely toxic for one another. I do wish that MC spoke more, expressed their mutual hatred and attraction to the LI like the LI continuously does. I also wished that MC had more thoughts and emotions, but I suppose the depersonalization was the key factor.
  • Voice Acting, bitch, my knees buckled when I heard their voices for both female and male LI's. Please, it was so embarrassing to simp THAT hard.

It's not as intense as it appears to be, honestly, it's a slow psychological mind fuckery that focuses on voice acting which, again, is splendid for any Melancholy Marionette game/visual novel. The story itself is what causes me to be interested into learning what is going on, not only that but it leaves a lot of gaps for imagination while still giving the foundations of the story. Interesting visual novel for sure!

Cool Factors:

  • Story, come on, this is Darkpetal16. I absolutely adore how they build the story of each AU they've taken inspiration from and how they add on and expand to it creating an epic little book of amazing-ness.
  • Art, the pixel art really enhances the story and gives it that sort of storybook vibe. The new terrain helps keep a lot of things interesting and makes you look forward in exploring new areas.
  • MC, like, legit just the MC. They feel so alive and badass because they are already an established character that has a lot of lore attached to them but enough customization that we feel connected to them. It's absolutely impressive how bad I fell in love with the MC here ahahaha

Absolutely amazing and so pretty to look at. I love the use of the art and story all coming together, not only that but to RainingSkeleton who made this AU possible, amazing job I really want to see how much was the original and how much was added on yet despite that it felt so good! Highly recommend playing this since only right now, there's part 1 but even then it lays a good foundation of the plot of the world, MC, and what is at stakes while also giving a comforting feel. Very cool!

COMPLETE: Play as a CUSTOMIZABLE scientist who catches the deranged attention of a siren .

Cool Factors:

  • Story, absolutely wonderful work, what else could you expect from Darkpetal?? It's a bleak story that has a lot of hostility, isolation, and attempts to gaslight but the scenes with Sans (who is outwardly dangerous) is ironically the most fulfilling part of the story.
  • Mystery, despite what it sells itself, there are some mysterious on how things like this were taken into account. I love the way the mysteries popped up, and some of them (on my terms) were never explained properly.
  • Character Dynamics, the themes of isolation hit me a lot. I'm someone who thrives off of being with people I like, if there are strangers I'm civil but sooner or later I would crack and try to awkardly bond with people, but in the story it's absolutely certain no one wants to interact with MC and MC is pretty much torn apart from their dad mentor making them ideal to latch on to the friendliest yet deadliest person.
  • Ways To Die, this is ironic but honestly it is kinda fun when you try not to simp and end up dying, gives a lot of laugh factors. That and it's pretty easy to survive, however your blood pressure will be tested, I assure.

There are some errors to the IF, not gonna lie. The biggest one would have to be the save files. They're wrongly sized so you'll have to minimize the page in pc/laptop, I'm not sure how it works with mobile but since the story isn't too long and when you pick a choice (so far) it either gives you a bad end or progresses further, it doesn't matter much what choice yoou pick, as long as you progress through the story.

Another thing to note is the descriptive gore and the sounds, there are some gunshot sounds however in my opinion they don't sound like gunshots but just the BANG noise. Also be warned, one of the choices (so far from my experience) leads to a dead end which I'm not sure if it's the same with other choices but that's fine.

There are some scuffs but it doesn't really take out the immersion of the story, that and the Bonuses are just so adorable.

After an occultist goes missing, his pupil has been arrested. His testimony haunts you, driving you to crack the case.
Visual Novel

Cool Factors:

  • Investigation Elements, listen this doesn't need much braincells because you just need to find all the clues and the MC does the braining for you. But it's so immersive and just well polished that I really love this part of the visual novel aside from the story and how it conveyed a detective falling in a world where logic could never hope to win.

I would have put it in either Random Simple Games but it genuinely felt way too polished to even be put in a category like that, especially with how much effort has been placed-- I thought I would give it such a disservice if I did it. But I also didn't put it in the Time To Get A Heart Monitor because I genuinely didn't feel scared, disturbed yes but not really frightened and there wasn't much about the content warnings that triggered me, but if you still want to be sure the content warnings can be found at the bottom of the game page and in the start up screen of the visual novel.

Regardless of that, it really is well polished and I enjoyed my time with it!

Cool Factors:

  • Design and art, just everything about it is seriously so good. I love how colorful it looks and how utterly dreamy it gives itself to be. Not only that but there is a sudden twist to it and I adore how it just adds on with the immersive experience.
  • Lore, the biggest part I absolutely want to shine on is just how much lore there is that is being shown. Absolutely a feast I adore every single text I read through as I pick up and explore the broken remains of two races and the horrible consequences each of them face.
  • WORLDBUILDING! I am a whore for worldbuilding so to see so much effort into creating this world and giving the MC a technical disability within that specific world is so fascinating, especially when by all accounts, MC is normal to us but not so lucky in that world in particular.

There is more to it but so far that's what I love most about it. It also isn't just a simple role reversal shenanigans that Underswap AU typically goes through, yes some of the peeps are the "canonical" swaps but there is more reason, backstory, and thought behind it.

Not only that but you are invested into what comes next, absolutely love work I just cannot wait to explore more about this world while also trying to romance Swap!Papyrus whom I genuinely didn't expect to romance but hey, world works in mysterious ways~!

Would you ally with a serial killer to get revenge on your worst enemy?
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • The MC, okay so maybe not the actual backstory or mystery behind MC but the future changes they can go through. The sheer potentiality MC can have regarding their corruption because no matter what happens, the inevitably that they will never be the same is guaranteed.
  • Dynamic between LI and MC, there is only one LI and his name is Oz and just-- An assistant detective who was betrayed and a serial killer who only kills criminal. Man just imagine the tension of whether trust can be guaranteed (more so on Oz's side cause this man isn't an idiot) and the possibility of how Oz will approach an unstable MC whose tittering between the side of "good" and "evil" is just *chefs kiss*.
  • Plot, how far will MC go? How much can Oz trust or hold on to us? And just what will happen at the very end? So curious...

I have like, rambled a ton about this demo and yes, it is pretty short but it surprisingly gives a lot of detail regarding what will happen further down the plot which helps give us what to expect and look forward to. The action is pretty much fast-paced but I think it suits this visual novel for some reason?

That, and it's a dark romance thriller genre so a lot of moral implications do be having here. Looking forward to this visual novel above all else~!

Cool Factor

  • The design and art is absolutely phenomenal! It's giving such a gothic yet cozy vibe and it's really visually interesting even with such a static background. Each individual character is interesting not only design wise but also story wise.
  • The story is absolutely cool, gives itself such a mysterious aura with subtle worldbuilding where you become curious over what exactly is this world if it's actually purgatory or anything else.
  • The MC, it's pretty uncommon for me to become interested in MCs because they are meant to be blank slates but the MC here is not only just a blank slate in the literal sense of immersion, but also story wise because we find out snippets of the mysterious past MC has that they cannot seem to remember at all.

I babble quite a lot for it especially since it's a relatively short visual novel but I just love the atmosphere it presents itself, and it's really well polished that I enjoyed my experience with it!

I'm kinda hoping there be more because I'm curious about this world over all but it's a really goodv visual novel that doesn't take much, but it does present you a challenge to solve through!

Cool Factors:

  • The aesthetics of the game is truly unparalleled. I may be biased but I love the dark screen mode of it, it really fits with the entire dark fantasy vibe they got going on. And it also feels regal without looking clunky!
  • The character portrait takes some time to get used to, but I like it for the sole purpose of imagining my MC in these funny situations with their resting bitchface.
  • MC being very questionably morally gray even before we take control of them. And they're also quite badass in their own right.
  • Ability to switch their personality and see how far it goes because of the character stats.

I think I pretty much summarized my experience with the factors on why I think it's cool but I truly like how this IF panned out and how cool looking everything is. Despite it being a demo, I adore its aesthetics and how polished it feels, not only that but the story itself is dynamic and very intriguing with its usage of worldbuilding as the author takes elements of what we traditionally know and mash it with their own interpretation. Highly recommend playing it!

the story is always about you. scream, scream, scream into the mirror because you are a narrative structure.
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • The meta-ness of this story.
  • The way the writing was done and how it is weaved all together.

Honestly, I genuinely feel as though you need to play this blind because the charm of it is to be raw and genuine with the "author" and diss them for all its worth as you breakdown the stories that we've heard so much. It's quite the philosophical work with a lot of bantering but also you can feel the distance as you explore more themes the author throws at you. Again, highly recommend to play it blind and then once you get an ending, scroll through the comments to see the other secrets that might lurk around in this haze of nonesense.

A single route romance-fantasy VN with a male LI.
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • The worldbuilding is very cool, makes you want to learn more about its history, the poeple living in the time, and how it parallels with our world but makes it their own.
  • PRETTY DUDE--

Listen, I'mma contain my rambles but the art is honestly adorable and well done. I like how it looks and the progression of MC and Heimos' relationship (you will never catch me DEAD being rude to my bestie Heimos) and not only that, but the lil progression where Heimos begins to care deeply about MC despite his oath and promise, truly makes it the cherry on top. Every part of it is pretty much well-written and I enjoyed myself progressing through the plot, not only that but I like the ending itself (of course, depending on your first choices) though my one critic is that the ending visuals are pretty lacking compared to the opening, but then again it is a Jam and it served its purpose very well! Highly recommend playing it!

Why wait for someone to ask you to the Halloween dance when you can make one!?
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • The endings themselves are very entertaining! Despite it getting a little bit repetitive, the endings themselves make it satisfactory. Not only that, but it's easy to get them with a little bit of experimenting, and seeing the thumbnails is very satisfying when you see them all displayed together.

Adore this visual novel, I genuinely thought this was gonna be some sort of moral dilemma like what Frankenstein had to do and especially with the jam this was in... But hilariously enough this was a very wholesome (side-eyeing from the bad endings) and entertaining visual novel! Highly recommend playing this!

  • The style and immersion of the visual novel. Since it's pretty limited I like how bumped up the aesthetics and stayed true to the aesthetics of that being a TV show.

Despite its short run since it is a Only One of Any Asset jam, I love how creative it has been in trying to make the charactre not only appealing but the choice of music and style. It's very in line with what you could expect and I love the little animations the character does, a bit dramatic which amuses me. Since it's quite short, I highly recommend playing this one!

Dark fantasy + supernatural + romance
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • The artistic aspect of it, not only in art style but story telling wise.
  • The mysteries that plague its stories, it answers few and leaves behind many questions but if you have an overactive imagination, you may be able to connect the mysteries with the context of the story.

Honestly, I adore the gothic mystery feel to it. I also like how MC too is shrouded within mystery, and even though Rosemary (one of the extras) feels like an open book, she also harbors secrets within her own mind. The mystery all feels vague and almost dreamlike but I have some theories about it, especially within Ending 4 where I based solely on it, since I adore how MC and Mosdeto/a interact with one another, though I'd like to see more snarky MC with a teasing Mosdeto/a but I like the scenes we have of them.

A woman is sent to clean up her recently deceased grandfather's house and learns that some of his messes... are alive.
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • The cool little gimmicks and movements. Not only that but the ghosts themselves are really interesting!
  • The death scenes, quick but pretty nice to collect them... At the expense of our poor MC's life rip.

It's a really fun game! I would have put it in I'm Busting A Lung collection but there was some violence that wasn't explicitly shown or described but it felt a bit too heavy for that collection even though I did think it was funny. The developers are in a hiatus but I hope we receive a bit more news about them and the direction the visual novel is heading to!

Wanna have a little date with a devil? Now you can!
Visual Novel

Cool Factor:

  • The entire sequence of trying to escape. It's not too hard (coughcough) and it's pretty fun and liberating to beat through it.
  • The ending of where you try to "escape" and get this cryptic encounter. Sent chills down my spine but it was really cool!

... Tis not simple at all, I was having a hard time doing my best to escape but it was fun. Though it can get repetitive purely because of how many times I had to replay the game itself (there is no save btw) but my stuborness... kinda paid off? Either way, it's a nice little visual novels with some confounding story elements.

I do have a lil guide on how to get the "Escape" sort of Ending in the comments, there's no spoilers but it will spoil you if you wanted to figure out how to escape. But that choice is yours!
