Yes, it came not so long ago, but this is already a classic to me. One of the best platformers ever made, for sure. This game si so exhaustive in exploring its mechanics, so careful and tasteful, it's just a breeze to play and die a million times.
Also, it has a story so much better than a platformer should be allowed to have. Just delightful.
Vlambeer, the indie savages, the masters of screenshake and visceral fun. Their games are just Arcade in capital A, mindless fun and impact.
And they said Bioshock did great visual storytelling. This game IS visual storytelling, and it has earned a spot in every video where they talk about what games are and can be. This is, undoubtedly, an interactive experience. Going through an empty home and inferring who are the beings that left all the things around is such a human and emotional experience.
As much as you can despise Phil Fish, he's a great artist, and his excessive pride is coherent with his careful attention to detail.
This is a gem, and the layers of care and secrets it has are delightful. Fez is one of the games that shaped the idea itself of what an "indie" is.
