The PS1 horror game where you draw lines of salt to stay safe.

Horror story about a screensaver.
Run in browser

a short story that highly rewards repeated reading with new discoveries and harrowing implications. i'm very happy it exists.

Shoot rich people.
Platformer

done with nothing but love for the 2000s-era, and the naive, yet cathartic art thereof. also, yes! shoot rich people, little guy!

Out in the Indian Ocean Somewhere...
Adventure

an enveloping game about an island in the indian ocean and its weird-ass inhabitants. "home", its main character, may be the weirdest of them all! immeasurably kind as a game, and a delight to play.

Something is very wrong.
Role Playing

very aesthetically confident 3D rpg maker mv game with mystery and anxiety in all the right places. effortlessly captures an area in england that is built for depression, and charts the difficulty of working life while transgender and mentally unwell and in our current day.

A violent 3D collage laying bare the fragility of life and human personhood. Also the most harrowing portrayal of drowning I've seen, and the most non-standard. It won't take much of your time, but it lingers.

Solve Death
Platformer

Perhaps the most dread-inducing horror game I've ever played. Through layers of abstraction it portrays and faces a very real terror, and fails to flinch.

A small-scale game about ordinary people in an ordinary place.
Interactive Fiction

A game that revealed the wound of the years in my chest, and left me at a loss in the best possible way. A must-play.

Abe's Gamemaker Text Engine (Now with Character portraits + more!)

very very useful tool for implementing a quick, dirty, functional text box into your small indie games. have used this twice already, will likely continue to use it!

A sled dog musher is hired to transport a scientist into the unknown
Adventure

Breathlessly chase the dogs through the terrors of ice and darkness. A showstopping game, worth every second and every dollar.

Supernatural point-and-click adventure
Adventure

A beautifully written adventure game with some excellent cinematography. This is one to watch out for.

After his brother runs away from home, it's up to James to explore the town of Nowhere, MI and bring him back.
Action

One of my most anticipated of this year. Ruthlessly imaginative and oddball in its humour and drama alike.

Fever-dreamy; a violent haze.

Platformer

Vibes. Vibes. Vibes.

Discover a world of stories in a handcrafted game set in rural Scotland.
Play in browser

A game sketching the corners and boundaries of empathy from a string of memories.

Water an ancient birch.

A tree of spaces, a world of fate. Mysterious and enveloping. Water the birch.

A short creepy story about a roommate.
Visual Novel
Play in browser

Strongly formatted and tense hypertext.

An Unspeakable Horror in Monochrome
Interactive Fiction

Mind the content warnings. An exploration of a mental state usually best left unexplored, but herein, dug into with a sharp shovel to make a point.

Dujanah
£4.99
The cost of seeking impossible goals

An all-time favourite. Worth every cent. This is a game that can change the way you see the world.

A dingy hospital, psychotic staff and a weird loophole. What can possibly go wrong?

Hospital horror with a powerful aesthetic and atmosphere.

Myst In The Bug Garden
Adventure

Pre-rendered puzzle-solving with a well-told story. Not too long, not too short.

RUN.

Car troubles? Just run!

video games... are they just garbage?

Save Carty! Or try to.

IT WON'T EVER FEEL AS GOOD
Role Playing

Play this; feel that nothing is alright in our lives, whether videogames distract us or not.

Become habituated to things that have not yet happened.

Audiovisually and narratively unlike anything that came before, entrancing. Let it wash over you, wash you away.

Relax, and fish in a very strange lake.

Vibes to enjoy, perturbing details to ignore until it's too late.

A night at the Opera

Listen to Mozart's Requiem. Fly like the moth towards the light.

Pain, sorrow, anger, and peace manifested in concrete, rust, and bittersweet memories.

A beautiful series of spaces accompanied by words born of hurt, concluding in a bittersweet smile of remembrance.
