Must-play titles from the 1700+ bundle

a collection by SB · last updated 2023-11-10 03:00:18

An ever-growing list of recommended titles from the huge "Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality". Only titles that I have completed (or played enough to fully experience in the case of 'infinite' games) will be considered... so the list will expand, but slowly.

My criteria for "must-play" tends to fall under:

  • Has a high degree of polish
  • Is a fully realized experience (rather than scratchpad prototypes or still in-development)
  • Focuses heavily on unique/non-traditional features and concepts (opposed to, say, an "elves-and-orcs fantasy match 3"... or a "solitaire" reskin, etc.)

There are no restrictions to specific genres, themes, or categories, though my personal tastes and limitations (I only play singleplayer, offline, non-VR titles) often lean towards the philosophical, psychological, obfuscated/cryptic, and highly stylized.

YES. Go in blind, don't try to 'game' it.. just go with the experience. Can't say much more without breaking so many of its concepts. It's well worth the time.

Took around 2.5 hours to more than fully complete.

A wonderful title to go in blind on. Had no idea what to expect, ended up 100%'ing it, loving every second. Not sure I would have categorized this as a 'walking simulator', however. Much more of an open-ended puzzle platformer, exploration, and collectible game... with yes, some walking to be had. WAY more actionable gameplay than others with the same label, to be sure.

Estimated play time is a bit rough since there are a fair few ways to approach the order in which you do things, but I got 3-4+ hours from it.

(disclaimer: I played through it on Steam years ago) Must-play title for those that love QWOP/Bennett Foddy/etc.-esque titles that rely on intentionally difficult controls. Some great humor, lots of silly stuff to play with, massive speedrunning potential, and just a whole ton of fun all around.

I don't recall my completion time, but I have 15 hours on Steam and plan to play it all through again sometime very soon.

Role Playing

Wonderful title, though absolutely brutal in difficulty. Essentially infinite playtime is possible considering the randomized nature of it.

NOTE: USE THE ITCH CLIENT to launch the game as the online aspects don't work with the Google+ method (and itch's only works when launched within the app).

Time to complete is ???-infinite.

Absolutely sublime. Well worth going in blind, not using guides, and experiencing it in one sitting. 10/10, fantastically well done! I can't praise every aspect of it enough.

Took me roughly 2.5-3 hours to fully complete, including pondering time when it came to the secrets.

(disclaimer: non-VR player) Absolutely superb in every. single. aspect. I am a -massive- fan of "design through obfuscation" and this is the best example, that is still a fully playable and enjoyable game, that I have ever seen. A particularly huge shoutout for the sound design.

And of course visuals, the puzzles, the entire concept, the story each toy tells and the overall... just.... everything. Seriously. 10/10, knocked it out of the park!

It took me about 1.5 hours to complete. I took my time, got stuck a few times (though nothing some tinkering and pondering couldn't solve).
