Today I started preparing to build my world. It's a little complicated because of how I want things to work. It's also complicated more by the difference between Unity (which I have experience with) and Godot (which is still pretty new to me). I asked Gemini to help me figure out how to accomplish what I wanted (not coding) and it's not super helpful. It gets confused easily between different versions. And it uses language that isn't correct when talking about certain things. For the most part, this is all gonna have to be me.
So, the first step is to gather my resources. I had previously messed around with tilesets early on in the life of the project, but unbeknownst to me they live in their scenes, it seems. So I had to start over. And not only that, but I have to figure out how to add collision to tiles, and make them block raycasts. This is going to be fun.
Luckily, I'm working with some great art that is setup just the way I need. But, it's daunting to look at a blank screen and think about how you'll paint an entire world. It's okay though, I'm just starting with a template building, nothing major. Once I get one setup and working, I can make many more! Of course, once I have a few, I have to paint the world around the buildings. Man, this is going to be a lot of work. . .
