My "State of Play" for Mock Ravage Games

...and I assure you, it is coming, but I missed the second quarter deadline I set for myself with More Damn Kitties.

I want to be as transparent about this as I can:


This is my list of overall projects here on Itch. As you can see, my most popular title, which also happens to be my most adult title, is The Gun at the End of This Monster. This was my attempt to amalgamate Edgar Allan Poe's The Masque of the Red Death with Sesame Street's children's book The Monster at the End of This Book. Both titles mean a lot to my childhood and even my adulthood, and I loved that this was as popular, and remains as popular as it has become.

Snacktime Heroes: The Dessert Dilemma and More Damn Kitties practically share the same spot in second place. Without anyone commenting, I can only speculate that the art direction and concept for MDK is what kept it as popular as it has been. The first mentioned was a game I made for the One-Page RPG Jam 2024, which I hope to participate in this year, but with my current time constraints, it is up in the air at the moment. Life changes have caused a slowdown on content, and for that I don't feel the need to apologize but promise that everything is still moving forward.

More Damn Kitties is receiving a complete overhaul. I have had a chance to play a lot of solo RPGs as of late, and I have found an engine that I feel works well with the theme and concept of what I originally wanted MDK to be--a dreadful and lonely experience but with hope that the player will come out of it a success or at a serious loss. There is a very popular solo RPG out there that fits this bill and is what I am basing the gameplay and world building around. I promise if you continue to stick with me and keep liking my content and downloading what games I currently have available (a monetary tip or two would not be turned away), I will have the content out here in the next few months, hopefully right before my birthday. I can't show images yet as those have been overhauled as well. I want this to be fresh and eye-catching, and I think you are all in for a real treat.

Agent AGENT, a race against the clock to see how long you can survive before a toxin from your archnemesis kills you, was a game I had really high hopes for. I thought with its colorful visuals and with its quick gameplay that it would be a hit. Boy was I wrong. 41 views as of today's post. Woof. Noun Noun Showdown, a game I billed as a "word roguelike," has climbed slowly, and I am actually okay with this. It was my very first game and was really more of a concept piece. I am happy there are people out there that liked it, and I hope there was some enjoyment found by both adults and kids. I've Been Caught, And I Must "Pika" was another "concept" piece than a game--to journal only by the name of your Pokémon, just like in the series. I am still blown away that I have had over 100 views on it. Absolutely amazing.

"But look at his downloads! This guys a fucking idiot thinking he has hit the jackpot but is a failure!"

I did something I never thought I would do, and that was make games. I don't care about the downloads. I only cared that people even looked into my work in the first place. That filled a need that got me to take more time on the games I care about creating and make them even better than before or make something new and fresh. I have talked about MDK, but that is only one game that I am currently at work on.

I am at work making my first board game. That's right. An actual board game. This was something I never anticipated I would start work on, and it was due to the fact that my muse, my playtester, my wife (yes, all of them are her), pushed me into taking a board game that I created on a Sticky Note (of all things) and had her play it for me to find out what she thought.

"You have to make this game."

"I know dear. I was planning on it. I just needed you to test it for me."

"No, sweetie. You have to MAKE this game. Like, make the board game and produce it and find a distributor."

"Wait. Really?"

"Yeah. This is that good. I could see this at our local game store."

I would love to show and explain it, but some ideas are best left unspoken until they are in production.

All I can say is that it's gonna be fire.
