I recently launched my "Simple Invoice Generator" – a lightweight tool that creates clean, professional invoice PDFs without all the unnecessary complexity.

While building it, I ran into some of the classic struggles that I think many small devs face:

• Finding the balance between simplicity and enough useful features.

• Making the GUI intuitive without overwhelming users.

• Deciding how much customization (colors, logos, footers) is enough without making it confusing.

• Testing PDF layouts – seriously, getting everything to align properly across different printers and screen sizes was a nightmare at times! 😅

• Trying not to overbuild – I wanted it to stay fast and lightweight, not turn into a full accounting program.

The idea actually started from the German freelance scene, where simple invoicing tools are often either too basic or way too bloated. I figured – maybe people in the US (and beyond) are looking for something clean and easy too?

I'm curious what you all think:

• Is a simple invoicing tool even useful for freelancers and small businesses in the US?

• Do you prefer minimal tools, or would you expect features like recurring invoices, online payments, or tax reports?

• Would you find something like this helpful – or would it just add to the list of tools you're already using?
