Silverstone: Current Progress and Release Date

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I've made a major post on here. I've been sharing most of the progress for Team Silver Strides' first VN, Silverstone, over on our Patreon.

TEAM SILVER STRIDES IS:

BrickZed (Silverstone: The Morning After) - Director, Lead Writer, Backgrounds/BG Edits, Programming
LuzEnby - Sprites, Promotional Material
Dogipound - Scene Illustrations, Additional Backgrounds
GatrGroh (High Seas) - Proofreading
Salthymn (Ulvetime, Retrograde) - Editing

The team could expand in the future, but this is the legacy team for build 1!

All of build 1's sprites are completed! They're only the neutral sprites, but we'll expand all the emotions and such with each build (Zeke and Mason for build 2, Kelsey and Jake for build 3, etc etc).


Currently, the first build has had the majority of it's menus and UI (some nametags may be recolored) completed. The only exceptions are the main menu art, which is being made by Luz and Andi, and the Android version of the menus and UI. I'll likely bring on someone to test these out on an actual device, but hopefully Ren'py's Android emulator will be accurate. Hopefully.

Some backgrounds still need to be modeled/photographed. There's a trail near me I'll be going to soon and I'll be diving into Blender to create an important area of the game. All of it is going to be manipulated in the end, but hey! Gotta sacrifice blood yourself for art!

We also have a theme song by Zavros! Most of the music in build 1 is going to be royalty-free, but like sprites, we plan to replace it all as we get further into development.

As for the story? We're almost done editing. The hard part is just going to be the art after that. WE'RE IN THE HOME STRETCH!!!

Alright, so what will build 1 NOT have? Let's go over that.

-Multiple sprite expressions (mostly budget)
-Original soundtrack (mostly budget)
-Gallery/Extras menu (this will be added in build 2 or 3 and we'll set up the flags for CGs so the transition isn't painful)

Now, originally Silverstone's release date was going to be December 30, 2024. However, due to some technical issues on our end, as well as university and the holidays for some of the team members, we have decided to push Silverstone's release date to January 6, 2025. Silverstone's page will go live that date as well, so I apologize for any confusion new followers have had. This new release date will help with polish (mainly for Android users) as well, so it's a good thing in the end!

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has responded to the character promos. You all help keep me going when I feel down. I do feel... a bit anxious for the attention, but I'm excited for everyone to download and read Silverstone's first build when it comes out!
