I'm happy to announce we're making a full-length version of our jam game, Floodpunk! It'll go on steam as our first official game for sale. There will also be a fixed post-jam version, of course!
I don't want to sink too much time into the idea (relatively speaking, of course) but it did get decent traction in the jam. I gave us a month from the jam end to release something! Hope that's not too little, but I've seen first hand what happens when you don't set a deadline. Parkinson's law states that "work will expand to fill the time allotted for its completion", and I can vouch for its credibility.
I don't think you ever feel ready to release a game for sale. Especially not your first. I'm fully expecting about 3 sales (one of whom is my mom), but who doesn't dream? Maybe we'll get 30 (and lets keep the dreams humble for now!)
Business development is a whole category of development I've never thought about, much less have any practice in, but there's only one way to learn!
I'll be updating these logs with more information and updates as we develop further. I hope that anything I learn can help others learn from my experience as well.
