Risk of Infection v2 is out!

RISK OF INFECTION V2.0 IS NOW AVAILABLE

Thank you everyone for waiting! Version 2 is now available to download for $3 (free of charge for anyone who has donated previously). You can also download a full HD image set.
V2 continues the main quest, but features a wide variety of other changes too.
IF YOU HAVE DONATED and still CANNOT download v2.0 let me know immediately.

How can I update my game version?
Just like updating between v1 versions. You can extract the game to any directory and drop your save files in it from v1 (they are named Save01, Save02 and so on). You can also copy-paste everything inside v2 folder to the v1 folder, but the former method is safer. It's wise to always back up your save files before updating!
After this you can continue the story by sleeping in the bed on Agency's 2nd floor and then attending Erika's morning opener downstairs.

New features:

-Main quest continues: new areas with new optional dungeons and loot along with two new party members.
-New furries to involve yourself with.
-Quality of life changes: System setting page in the main menu. Set individual sound levels and window color. Toggle dash, change text speed or toggle battle animations. Dialogue is now skippable by holding down shift.
-Better status screens: Unlike in vanilla RPG Maker VXA, you can see crit chance and evasion rate on the status page and when equipping gear. You can also see changes to max HP and MP when changing gear.
-Combat visuals overhaul: Yanfly's Ace Battle Engine implemented. Battles are now way more easy to comprehend. It's clear when a status is inflicted, what the enemies are strong and weak against, and what their HP is at.
-TP system enabled for combat: The characters can unleash finishers skills by gathering TP point in a battle. Finishers restore MP allowing characters to function longer in the battle.
-Crafting system: Are you short on cash but still need new gear? Take a dip into the Rehling mine and gather some ore. The blacksmith in Flumen will make you weapons for a small price.

Changes to v1:

-Small bug fixes like typos, sound issues and missing dialogue.
-Animations of some skills have been changed.
-Quinn's skill damage now scales primarily off of agility.
-Balance changes to some skills, for example Lily's Rousing Rally only affects one party member being such a low level skill. Quinn's rapid fire only shoots 3 arrows now.
-Critical damage multiplier has been lowered from x3 to x2. This is a hardcoded value in the RPG Maker scripts. I felt x3 was way too much, and x2 is closer to most other RPG games where x1.5 or x2 is often the baseline.
-All shops sell tier 2 weapons from the get-go.
-Ring of Quiet Steps (the encounter halving ring) has been changed to be a quest reward from Natasha's quest. Natasha can be found outside the Agency building after spending the first night.

What's next?

I will move to develop the next version in a couple of weeks. I will of course put out bugfixes to v2 if any get reported (I'm sure someone will find something lol). V3 might take longer than v2 since I have no major vacations anytime soon, but I'd estimate v3 to be out around january-february 2025. I might put out a side quest patch before that (kind of a v2.5).
The biggest changes to gameplay and QoL are in v2, and I'm only planning to add skills, gear, and possibly new characters in v3 an beyond. I.e. I likely won't implement big plugins to the game anymore. I'd like to focus on the story and art.
Many people have asked for a linux/mac/android port, and I have done some research about this. It is possible to import a VXA project to RPG Maker MZ which can build on more platforms, incl. browser. I tried this, but it messes up every single art asset and probably a bunch of other things too. For example all plugins stop working due to the change in programming language. It might take 3 days to get right. Or 3 weeks. Or 3 months. I have no idea, but that's why I did not put more time to this before v2. The other issue is that save games of VXA do not work in MZ, and I don't think a save game converter exists. For now a virtual machine is the best option for linux and mac users.
All in all this is something I will look into after the game is finished. If an MZ version of RoI is ever out, it will come out as some sort of a deluxe-edition in late 2025 or 2026.
