Pocket Delivery (GBC) Image board/Influences.

I have been thinking about making some blog posts for my Gameboy Color game that I’m been currently working on since 2021.  So why not start with a post on influences like an image board.

A quick rundown of the premise of my game:

My game is Pocket Delivery, a simple game where you help deliver townsfolk packages. While traversing the town you must dodge oncoming traffic and obstacles. The game is viewed from a sorta top down perspective but with a beat em up(belt scrolling) movement. It’s a non violent game where instead of having attack abilities, you have the ability to dash or jump, and a magic technique to slow down time.

As for influences, it’s pretty clear the game is heavily influenced by Hayao Miyazaki’s film  ”Kiki’s Delivery Service”.

For designing the town in my game, I have also been influenced by to some other animated films as well.  Photos below  below are Marco: In Search of Mother, Sherlock Hound, and  Porco Rosso.

Looking back at where my game started and what the backgrounds looked like compared to today, makes me feels really proud of my artwork.

Well i’m looking forward to posting more updates on here as things start to come together.

               (Currently how I feel.)
